We investigate the effects of planetary oblateness, quadrupole magnetic field, and solar radiation pressure on nonequatorial dust grain orbits about Saturn. Radiation pressure is found to be a strong perturber for small (≈ 100 nm) positively charged conducting ...

Study of the transfer between halo orbits
Acta Astronautica, 1998Abstract Two methods of transfer between halo orbits of the same family are developed making use of the geometry of the phase space around these solutions and the Floquet theory for periodic orbits. The study is done for the halo orbits around the libration point L1 of the Earth–Sun system, in the framework of the restricted three body problem.

Translunar Halo Orbits in the Quasibicircular Problem
1999The Quasibicircular Problem (QBCP) is a four body problem where three masses are revolving in a quasibicircular motion (that is, a coherent motion close to bicircular), the fourth mass being small and not influencing the motion of the three primaries. The Earth-Moon-Sun-Spacecraft case is considered and the Hamiltonian which governs the motion of the ...

Optimal Approach to Halo Orbit Control
AIAA Guidance, Navigation, and Control Conference and Exhibit, 2003Three-dimensional orbits in the vicinity of the collinear libration points of the Sun-Earth/Moon barycenter system are currently being considered for use with a number of missions planed for 2000 and beyond. Since such libration point trajectories are, in general, unstable, spacecraft moving on these paths must use some form of trajectory control to ...

H2 optimal halo orbit guidance
Astrodynamics Conference, 1992An output feedback guidance law for a halo orbit about the translunar equilibrium point in the circular restricted three-body problem is developed. The equations of motion are derived and the location and stability of the translunar equilibrium point discussed.

Maintenance of earth-moon halo orbit
2017 36th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2017Halo orbit nearby the Earth-Moon libration points is valuable to explore the lunar farside, which however must frequently be controlled to stay in the vicinity of libration points because of instability. With a consideration of the high fidelity force models, this paper focuses on maintenance of halo orbit nearby the Earth-Moon libration points. First,
