Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation Testbed for Geomagnetic Navigation

open access: yesCoRR
Geomagnetic navigation leverages the ubiquitous Earth's magnetic signals to navigate missions, without dependence on GPS services or pre-stored geographic maps. It has drawn increasing attention and is promising particularly for long-range navigation into unexplored areas.

Satellite docking simulation based on HIL hybrid contact model

open access: yes, 2013
This paper briefly presents a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) docking simulator concept. A critical requirement for the docking simulation of the HIL simulator is that its 6-degree of freedom (DOF) robots have to mimic the dynamic response of two satellites ...

A Proof‐of‐Concept Assessment of a Novel Wearable Eyelid Muscle Device: A Pre‐Clinical Animal Cadaver Study for Eyelid Closure Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article introduces a soft wearable eyelid sling device incorporating a hydraulic soft artificial muscle (SAM) for achieving complete closure of an eyelid. The SAM is driven by a cam mechanism that provides a displacement profile closely matched with those of a healthy eyelid.

Development of a Hardware-in-the-Loop Platform for a Teleoperation Flexibility Robotic System

open access: yesApplied Sciences
A control method for a cable-driven robot in a teleoperation system is proposed using the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation technique. The main components of the teleoperated robotic system are a haptic device, also called a delta robot, and a cable ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.
