Summary. Loss of hepatitis ‘e’ antigen (HBeAg) in patients with HBeAg‐positive chronic hepatitis B is associated with improved long‐term clinical outcome and is defined as a goal of antiviral treatment by clinical practice guidelines. Recent studies suggest that baseline levels and on‐treatment monitoring of HBeAg levels may identify patients most ...

It remains unknown whether antiviral treatment for HBeAg‐negative chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients having high viral loads without significant elevation of alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels would reduce the risks of clinical events.

Summary. There are few reports on hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) titres during nucleos(t)ide analogues treatment. We investigated the changes in HBeAg levels in patients treated with entecavir and the usefulness of HBeAg quantification for predicting antiviral response.

HBeAg in Viral Hepatitis Type B
Digestion, 200958 patients with acute hepatitis type B, including 13 with fulminant hepatitis, were tested on presentation for HBeAg. Positive results were obtained in 24%. The frequency was highest in those with fulminant hepatitis (46% positive), and this was probably related to the earlier presentation of patients with this condition. Patients with acute hepatitis

Characterization of hbeag by physicochemical and immunochemical methods
Journal of Medical Virology, 1980AbstractHBeAg, which is a hepatitis B‐associated antigen, was purified and characterized. The end product from ion exchange, gel filtration and immunoadsorbent columns consisted mainly of immunoglobulin G (IgG) molecules, identified by immunoelectrophoresis and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) seroconversion experienced during nucleo(s)tide analogue (NUC) therapy is often not sustained. We aimed to study whether hepatitis B core‐related antigen (HBcrAg) levels predict sustained HBeAg seroconversion in patients ...

It remains unclear whether chronic hepatitis B patients who undergo interferon (IFN)-induced hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) seroconversion have a higher risk of hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation and HBeAg seroreversion than those with spontaneous HBeAg seroconversion.A total of 80 and 251 non-cirrhotic patients with interferon-induced and spontaneous

This study aimed to identify the predictors for early hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) seroconversion following acute exacerbation (AE) in patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B (CHB).A total of 151 patients with HBeAg-positive CHB and AE were consecutively enrolled. AE was defined as an elevation of alanine aminotransferase level to more than 5
