Transcriptional regulation and binding of heat shock factor 1 and heat shock factor 2 to 32 human heat shock genes during thermal stress and differentiation [PDF]

open access: yesCell Stress & Chaperones, 2004
Transcription of mammalian heat shock genes can be regulated by heat shock factors (HSF) 1 and 2. Although it has been shown previously that these factors respond to distinct stimuli, a broad analysis of the induction and function of these factors in living cells has not been performed.

On the Influence of Antioxidants and Recycled MgO–C Source Material on the Mechanical Properties of Carbon‐Bonded Magnesia Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

The Structural Deciphering of the α3 Helix Within ZmHsfA2’S DNA-Binding Domain for the Recognition of Heat Shock Elements in Maize

open access: yesPlants
Heat shock transcription factor (Hsf) plays a pivotal role in regulating plant growth, development, and stress responses. Hsf activates or represses target gene transcription by binding to the heat shock element (HSE) of downstream genes.

The Safe Recipient of SSC Transplantation Prepared by Heat Shock With Busulfan Treatment in Mice

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2018
Safety is the chief consideration in recipient preparation of spermatogonial stem cell (SSC) transplantation in mammals, especially humans. In this study, we compared the safety of the SSC transplantation recipients that were prepared both by testes heat

Investigation on wedge shock wave control by surface MHD actuation

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
To study the effect of magnetohydrodynamic actuation on wedge shock waves under hypersonic flow, experiments were conducted in a Mach 7 hypersonic shock tunnel.

Binding of heat shock factor to and transcriptional activation of heat shock genes inDrosophila

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1995
Heat shock factor (HSF) binds to heat shock elements (HSEs) and the binding can be highly cooperative. Here we report an analysis of binding of Drosophila HSF to both native and synthetic heat shock regulatory regions. We find that cooperative binding of HSF requires close proximity, rather than helical alignment, of HSEs.

Four‐Point Bending Tests at High Temperatures on Commercial MgO‐C Refractory Bricks with and Without Recyclate Considering Different Carbon Contents

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

Heat Shock Related Protein Expression in Abdominal Testes of Asian Elephant (Elephas maximus)

open access: yesAnimals
The abdominal testes of Asian elephants show normal spermatogenesis. Heat shock in cryptorchid testes elevates heat shock factor (HSF) expression, leading to germ cell apoptosis, while increased heat shock proteins (HSPs) levels provide protection.

Displacement of Histones at Promoters of \u3ci\u3eSaccharomyces cerevisiae\u3c/i\u3e Heat Shock Genes Is Differentially Associated with Histone H3 Acetylation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Chromatin remodeling at promoters of activated genes spans from mild histone modifications to outright displacement of nucleosomes in trans. Factors affecting these events are not always clear.

Cosmological Effects of Powerful AGN Outbursts in Galaxy Clusters: Insights from an XMM-Newton Observation of MS0735+7421 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We report on the results of an analysis of XMM-Newton observations of MS0735+7421, the galaxy cluster which hosts the most energetic AGN outburst currently known.
