Role of heat shock protein 90 in modulating ischemia-reperfusion injury in the kidney [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Kidney transplantation is the gold standard treatment for end-stage renal disease. Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury is an unavoidable consequence of the transplantation procedure and is responsible for delayed graft function and poorer long-term ...

Hyperglycemia and antibody titres against heat shock protein 27 in traumatic brain injury patients on parenteral nutrition [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences, 2014
Objective(s):Hyperglycemia worsens the neuronal death induced by cerebral ischemia. Previous studies demonstrated that diabetic hyperglycemia suppressed the expression of heat shock protein 70 and 60 (HSP70 and 60) in the liver.

Parity‐Dependent THz Harmonic Generation in Electrically Pumped Micro‐Lasers Exploiting Topological Insulator–Metamaterial Gratings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Topological insulator–metamaterials integrated with electrically driven terahertz quantum cascade lasers enable parity‐dependent harmonic generation. Bulk‐dominated Bi2Se3 favors third‐harmonic emission at 9.96 THz, whereas topological‐surface‐state‐dominated Bi2Se3, Bi2Te3, and (Bi,Sb)2Te3 generate strong second harmonics near 6.5 THz.

Microgels Enable iPSCs to Assemble, Expand, and Differentiate Into Organoids—From Sizable to High‐Throughput

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A chemically defined PEG‐based microgel platform enables scalable, reproducible production of three‐dimensional microgel‐iPSC constructs in multiple sizes. The system is compatible with high‐throughput automation and supports human iPSC expansion and differentiation within a single construct, including directed differentiation into cardiac organoids ...

HEAT SHOCK PROTEIN 27 IS OVEREXPRESSED IN THE SKIN OF BITUMEN EXPOSED WORKERS. EARLY OBSERVATIONS

open access: yesJournal of Biological Research, 2000
Heat Shock Proteins (HSPs) are chaperones involved in cellular defence mechanism against several different types of aggression. The HSP27 is a member of this family ( 1) . These molecules also participate in essential physiological processes, such as

A Cryopreservation‐Based Supply Chain Strategy for Extrusion Bioprinting in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Extrusion bioprinting on crewed space platforms requires a bioink that stays functional along the logistic chain. Here, cells and biomaterial ink travel separately, the cells cryopreserved and the ink cold stored, and are combined only minutes before printing.

Comparative transcriptome analysis of the rice leaf folder (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis) to heat acclimation

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2020
Background The rice leaf folder Cnaphalocrocis medinalis Güenée is a serious insect pest of rice in Asia. This pest occurs in summer, and it is sensitive to high temperature. However, the larvae exhibit heat acclimation/adaptation.

Cytoprotective Effect of Heat Shock Protein 27 Against Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Apoptosis of Renal Epithelial HK-2 Cells

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2017
Background: In response to various stimuli, heat shock protein 27 (Hsp27) functions as an anti-apoptotic or/and anti-inflammatory factor which confers a survival advantage to cells.
