Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Dose–Volume Constraints for Thoracic, Abdominal, and Pelvic Carbon Ion Radiotherapy: A Literature Review

open access: yesCancer Medicine
Background Applying dose–volume constraints is extremely important in ensuring the safe use of radiotherapy. However, constraints for carbon ion radiotherapy (CIRT) have not been established yet.

Particle Beam Radiation Therapy for Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the Nasal Cavity and Paranasal Sinuses

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2020
Background: Sinonasal adenoid cystic carcinoma (SNACC) presents a challenge to oncologists due to its complex anatomy and poor prognosis. Although radiation therapy, either definitive or adjuvant to surgery, is an important part of the multidisciplinary ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The preliminary results of proton and carbon ion therapy for chordoma and chondrosarcoma of the skull base and cervical spine

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2019
Purpose To evaluate the short-term outcomes in terms of tumor control and toxicity of patients with skull base or cervical spine chordoma and chondrosarcoma treated with intensity-modulated proton or carbon-ion radiation therapy.

Analysis of delivery and recalculation of dose using DICOM treatment records

open access: yesRadiation Medicine and Protection, 2022
Objective: A procedure has been proposed for patient-specific QA that, instead of comparing a measurement to the planned dose, compares the dose calculated by an independent system to the dose calculated by the planning system.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated
