Analysis of sequencing and scheduling methods for arrival traffic [PDF]

open access: yes
The air traffic control subsystem that performs scheduling is discussed. The function of the scheduling algorithms is to plan automatically the most efficient landing order and to assign optimally spaced landing times to all arrivals.

Tracking of [14C]Polystyrene Nanoplastics in Pregnant Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates [14C]polystyrene nanoplastic ([14C]PS) translocation in late‐stage pregnant mice after intranasal (0.5 mg of [14C]PS on GD12, GD14, and GD16, n = 6) and intravenous administration (1.5 mg of [14C]PS on GD16, n = 6). 14C‐radiolabel allows quantitative tracking of unmodified polystyrene nanoplastics.

PAIR: Reconstructing Single‐Cell Open‐Chromatin Landscapes for Transcription Factor Regulome Mapping

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
scATAC‐seq analysis is often constrained by limited sequencing depth, extreme sparsity, and pervasive technical missingness. PAIR is a probabilistic framework that restores scATAC‐seq accessibility profiles by directly modeling the native cell–peak bipartite structure of chromatin accessibility.

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Construction Material for Tribo-Fatigue Systems: Fatigue Resistance and Structure

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов, 2018
A brief overview of the practical use of the new construction material of MONICA is given. An experimental study was performed for the first time on the analysis of the influence of the microstructural state on fatigue resistance.

Scheduling in the High-Uncertainty Heavy Traffic Regime

open access: yesMathematics of Operations Research
We propose a model uncertainty approach to heavy traffic asymptotics that allows for a high level of uncertainty. That is, the uncertainty classes of underlying distributions accommodate disturbances that are of order 1 at the usual diffusion scale as opposed to asymptotically vanishing disturbances studied previously in relation to heavy traffic.

Linking Plant Metabolomics with Fungal Functional Dynamics Reveals a Noncanonical S‐R‐C Adaptive Trajectory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using field‐based holo‐omics, we demonstrate that developmental shifts in sorghum leaf metabolomes drive a noncanonical fungal succession from stress tolerators (S) through ruderals (R) to competitors (C). Antifungal metabolites in young leaves select for S strategists with expanded genomes, transient maltose pulses during flowering favor fast‐growing ...

Assessing health risk reduction from road traffic noise: The impact of vehicle composition and traffic speed in the transition to electric vehicles – A prediction in Sapporo City, Japan

open access: yesHygiene and Environmental Health Advances
Environmental noise poses a risk to public health. Recent societal shifts aimed at creating a low-carbon society are expected to change the acoustic landscape, such as the transition from internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs) to electric vehicles ...

A LIFO queue in heavy traffic

open access: yesThe Annals of Applied Probability, 2001
The author analyzes the heavy-traffic behaviour of an M/G/1 last-in-first-out preemptive resume queue using measure-valued processes developed by \textit{J.-F. Le Gall} and \textit{Y. Le Jan} [Ann. Probab. 26, No.~4, 1407-1432 (1998; Zbl 0945.60090)]. This approach captures all the relevant information about evolution of the queue.
