TNF receptor–related factor 3 inactivation promotes the development of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma through NF‐κB‐inducing kinase–mediated hepatocyte transdifferentiation

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Background and Aims Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a deadly but poorly understood disease, and its treatment options are very limited. The aim of this study was to identify the molecular drivers of ICC and search for therapeutic targets.

Research progress on the role of Hedgehog signaling pathway in renal interstitial fibrosis

open access: yesLinchuang shenzangbing zazhi, 2020
Renal interstitial fibrosis is the common progressive pathway for many chronic kidney diseases. The activation of Hedgehog signaling pathway seems to play an important role in progression of chronic kidney diseases as much as in embryonic renal ...

Proteostasis in the Hedgehog signaling pathway

open access: yesSeminars in Cell & Developmental Biology, 2019
The Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway is crucial for the development of vertebrate and invertebrate animals alike. Hh ligand binds its receptor Patched (Ptc), allowing the activation of the obligate signal transducer Smoothened (Smo). The levels and localizations of both Ptc and Smo are regulated by ubiquitination, and Smo is under additional regulation ...

RKIP overexpression reduces lung adenocarcinoma aggressiveness and sensitizes cells to EGFR‐targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RKIP, a metastasis suppressor protein, modulates key oncogenic pathways in lung adenocarcinoma. In silico analyses linked low RKIP expression to poor survival. Functional studies revealed RKIP overexpression reduces tumor aggressiveness and enhances sensitivity to EGFR‐targeted therapies, while its loss promotes resistance.

Matrix: a complex amalgam of structures and functions in tumor microenvironment

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The matrix is a dynamic, intricate three‐dimensional mesh of biomolecules with both structural and functional properties. This review deals with the complexity of this ‘molecular amalgam’ in the tumor microenvironment and highlights its importance in the maintenance and evolution of tumors by describing certain matrix biomolecules, such as ...

Role of canonical Hedgehog signaling pathway in liver [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biological Sciences, 2018
Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway plays an important role in embryonic development. It becomes reactivated in many types of acute and chronic liver injuries. Hh signaling is required for liver regeneration, regulates capillarisation, controls the fates of hepatic stellate cells, promotes liver fibrosis and liver cancers.

Biomimetic Scaffolds with Dual Gradients of Biological Effectors for Tendon‐to‐Bone Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The authors have developed a biomimetic scaffold with dual gradients through a diffusion‐driven method. The scaffold features funnel‐shaped microchannels for cell infiltration, while the dual gradients synergetically induce the graded differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells into osteoblasts, chondrocytes, and tenocytes, allowing for a seamless ...

Spatial Control of Chiral Self‐Assembly and Lithographic Applications in Liquid Crystal Polymer Network

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates a strategy to spatially control supramolecular chirality by leveraging spontaneous twist self‐assembly in liquid crystal materials. It is generated by periodic zigzag line defects that define alternating enantiomeric domains, stabilized by a polymer network. This approach enables precise defect engineering, tunable chirality, and

Understanding miR‐200c: an Important Player in Resistance to Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, EarlyView.
How can one microRNA alter cancer's response to therapy? miR‐200c plays a central role in therapeutic resistance by modulating epithelial‐mesenchymal transition, apoptosis, cancer stemness features, and drug efflux. This review outlines the context‐dependent functions of miR‐200c in various cancers and highlights its potential as both a biomarker and a
