Microbial Odorant Detection Guides Drosophila Parasitoids Seeking Hosts in Fermenting Fruits

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yeast microbes in fermenting fruits attract both host flies and their parasitoid wasps. Female Leptopilina boulardi detect yeast‐emitted ethyl esters via two olfactory receptors, LbouOR167 and LbouOR136. A conserved residue, Leu159, is critical for binding these compounds, enabling female wasps to locate host‐rich habitats.

RCAN1 binds HDAC3 in HEK293 cells.

open access: yes, 2014
(A) Where indicated, HEK293 cells were mock-transfected or transfected with plasmids encoding HA-tagged RCAN1 and/or Flag-tagged HDAC3 for 24 hr. Cell lysates were immunoprecipitated using anti-HA and anti-Flag antibodies, and immunocomplexes were ...

Decoding the Mechanism of Action of a Parasite TGFβ Antagonist Inspires the Creation of Cell‐Type‐Specific TGFβ Modulators

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The mammalian TGFβ interacts with ubiquitously expressed TGFBR1 and TGFBR2, and current TGFβ‐targeting agents are non‐cell‐selective. The cooperative interaction of the modular parasite TGFβ antagonist with multiple host (co‐)receptors empowers the design of TGM chimeras and bispecific antibodies that activate or inhibit TGFβ signaling in a cell ...

The Effect of Aspirin and Ibuprofen on the Proliferation of Cervical Cancer Cells (HeLa) Compared to Non-Cancerous Cells (HEK 293) in Cell Culture Medium

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Qum, 2018
Background and Objectives: Studies have shown that anti-inflammatory drugs can affect growth and development of cancer. This study was carried out to determine the effects of aspirin and ibuprofen on viability of cervical cancer cells (HeLa) compared to ...

Comparison of luminescence emission from HEK293-pmeLUC and HEK293-cytLUC cells injected into MZ2-MEL melanoma and healthy tissue.

open access: yes, 2013
Nude mice were inoculated with MZ2-MEL cells in the right dorsal hip. After about 20 days, when the tumour was about 1–1.5×1–1.5 cm size, HEK293-pmeLUC (A) or HEK293-cytLUC (B) cells were injected s.c.

Scalable Engineering of Bio‐Manufactured Extracellular Vesicles for Selective Delivery in Ovarian Cancer Patient‐Derived Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Engineered extracellular vesicles displaying Ephrin‐B2 selectively target Ephrin‐B4–expressing ovarian cancer cells, enabling precise delivery in patient‐derived models. This scalable bio‐manufacturing platform reveals a versatile strategy to exploit Ephrin signaling for highly specific therapeutic payload delivery and motivates exploration of tailored

Optimizing size-based sorting of HEK293 cells.

open access: yes, 2013
(A) The low and high 10% ends of the depicted light-scatter distributions of proliferating HEK293 cells were gated for sorting by FACSAria III. (B) Volume distributions of the sorted low- and high-end cell populations, as determined by Multisizer IV ...

T Cell‐Independent Role of PD‐L1 in Kidney Repair: Mitigation of Tubular DNA Damage via PD‐L1/BRCA1 Interaction Following AKI

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PD‐L1 is primarily expressed in renal tubules and upregulated in both murine models of AKI and renal biopsy samples from patients with AKI. PD‐L1 can promote adaptive TECs repair through interacting with BRCA1, independent of its canonical immunomodulatory function of T cells, and PD‐L1 supplementation may represent a promising therapeutic strategy for
