Quality of Life and psychopathology in adults who underwent Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) in childhood: a qualitative and quantitative analysis. [PDF]
Background: Patients who undergo pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) may experience long-term psychological sequelae and poor Quality of Life (QoL) in adulthood. This study aimed to investigate subjective illness experience, QoL, and

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

IntroductionIn resource-limited countries, access to advanced therapies like CAR T-cell therapy is often unattainable. Clinical trials face challenges, with pediatric populations frequently excluded or experiencing significant delays. This highlights the

Thymopoiesis in Pre- and Post-Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation
Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is an important therapeutic option for some hematological diseases. However, patients who undergo HSCT acquire a state of immunodeficiency that causes significant mortality. Reconstitution of thymic function

In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) is widely used as a successful treatment in many hematopoietic cancers. However, one of the main challenges of AHSCT is the relapse of the disease which occurs mainly due to tumor contamination ...

Modeling Anti-HIV-1 HSPC-Based Gene Therapy in Humanized Mice Previously Infected with HIV-1. [PDF]
Investigations of anti-HIV-1 human hematopoietic stem/progenitor cell (HSPC)-based gene therapy have been performed by HIV-1 challenge after the engraftment of gene-modified HSPCs in humanized mouse models.

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Leukemia cell microvesicles promote survival in umbilical cord blood hematopoietic stem cells [PDF]
Microvesicles can transfer their contents, proteins and RNA, to target cells and thereby transform them. This may induce apoptosis or survival depending on cell origin and the target cell.
