Zinc hematoporphyrin in preparations of hematoporphyrin and hematoporphyrin derivative

Chemical Physics Letters, 1984
Abstract The blue-shifted emission from aged aqueous solutions of hematoporphyrin and its derivatives, reported by others to originate from special aggregates, is shown to originate from the zinc chelates of the porphyrins. Suggestions are made regarding the role of such zinc porphyrins in the localization of hematoporphyrin and its derivatives in ...

Tumor Fluorescence with Hematoporphyrin Derivative

Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1977
Hematoporphyrin derivative (HpD) is one of several photodynamically active dyes that accumulate in tumor cells and can be used to differentiate neoplastic from normal tissue by violet light activation. Degree of tumor fluorescence was studied in relation to the nature of the hematoporphyrin compound, dose of HpD injected, route of injection, and ...

The main photosensitizing components of hematoporphyrin derivative

Cancer Letters, 1982
Commercial hematoporphyrin (Hp) and the tumor-localizing and photosensitizing agent hematoporphyrin derivative (Hpd) were analysed by means of high pressure lipid chromatography (HPLC). Furthermore, their efficiencies in sensitizing the photoinactivation of human cells in vitro were compared. The comparison showed that the least polar components of Hpd

The Analysis of Hematoporphyrin Derivative

1983
When work on photoradiation therapy (PRT) commenced in Adelaide, the stringency of Australian Federal drug regulations made it preferable for us to prepare HPD rather than import the product. It was therefore important that we have an acceptable assay for both HPD solid and HPD clinical1, thereby enabling comparisons between our material and the ...

Photochemotherapy mediated by hematoporphyrin derivative in gastroenterology

European Journal of Cancer and Clinical Oncology, 1987
While results concerning photodynamic treatments of cancers in pneumology or dermatology have been published regularly, few works have been devoted to gastroenterology. Twenty-seven non-operable patients bearing various G.I. tumors of less than 40 mm dia.

Hematoporphyrin derivative for detection and management of cancer

Cancer, 1967
Hematoporphyrin derivative has been evaluated as a means of detecting malignancy in 121 patients suspected of having cancer. Areas examined included the cervix, vagina, tracheobronchial tree, esophagus, peritoneum and rectum. Dysplastic and neoplastic tissue was identified by red fluorescence whereas nonneoplastic tissue appeared grayish white to black.

Hematoporphyrin and hematoporphyrin-derivative photosensitization of mitochondria

Biochimie, 1986
Laser micro-irradiation experiments show that mitochondria are profoundly affected when cells are irradiated with Hp as the photosensitizer. Functional as well as enzymatic studies on isolated mitochondria show that coupling between respiration and oxidative phosphorylation, Ca2+ transport and respiration are successively lost under irradiation in the ...

Hematoporphyrin Derivative Photoradiation Therapy

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1984
To the Editor. —I read with interest the article in the JulyArchivesregarding hematoporphyrin derivatives in photoradiation therapy. 1 I found a number of references to this subject appearing in the literature. When I introduced porphyrins to clinical medicine in 1955, at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, 2 I originally used it as a surgical tool.
