Abstract Neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease are characterized by progressive neuronal loss driven by oxidative stress and inflammation. Quercetin, a dietary flavonoid with established antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory properties, has emerged as a potential neuroprotective agent.

Heme oxygenase-1 and acute kidney injury [PDF]
Heme oxygenase activity, possessed by an inducible heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and a constitutive isoform (HO-2), catalyzes the conversion of heme to biliverdin, liberates iron, and generates carbon monoxide. First shown in acute kidney injury (AKI), HO-1 is now recognized as a protectant against diverse insults in assorted tissues.

ABSTRACT This study tested whether combined dapagliflozin (DAPA) and melatonin (Mel) therapy was superior to merely one for ameliorating the left ventricular (LV) fibrosis/remodeling and improving LV ejection fraction (LVEF) in rats after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). In vitro study demonstrated that DAPA treatment significantly suppressed the TGF‐

Heme oxygenase-1 system and gastrointestinal tumors
Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) system catabolizes heme into three products: carbon monoxide, biliverdin/bilirubin and free iron. It is involved in many physiological and pathophysiological processes. A great deal of data has demonstrated the roles of HO-1 in the formation, growth and metastasis of tumors.

ABSTRACT Proteins are built from modular domains that serve as fundamental units of structure and evolution. While individual domains have been extensively cataloged, their collective distribution across the lineages of life has remained poorly resolved.
