Delta hepatitis agent: structural and antigenic properties of the delta-associated particle [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1984
Delta agent (delta) was serially passaged to a second and third hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) carrier chimpanzee, using as inoculum the peak delta antigen (delta Ag) serum of an animal previously infected with human serum. The characteristics of serially transmitted delta Ag were similar to those described in first-passage animals.

Adverse reactions of biological therapies in patients with psoriasis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated disorder characterized by well demarcated, erythematous plaques covered by thick, silvery-white scales, most often located on the knees, elbows, sacral area and scalp.

Cell cycle arrest mediated by hepatitis delta antigen

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1999
Hepatitis delta antigen (HDAg) is the only viral‐encoded protein of the hepatitis delta virus (HDV). This protein has been extensively characterized with respect to its biochemical and functional properties. However, the molecular mechanism responsible for persistent HDV infection is not yet clear.

Removal of the C6 Vaccinia Virus Interferon-β Inhibitor in the Hepatitis C Vaccine Candidate MVA-HCV Elicited in Mice High Immunogenicity in Spite of Reduced Host Gene Expression

open access: yesViruses, 2018
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) represents a major global health problem for which a vaccine is not available. Modified vaccinia virus Ankara (MVA)-HCV is a unique HCV vaccine candidate based in the modified vaccinia virus Ankara (MVA) vector expressing the ...

Antigen-driven clonal proliferation of B cells within the target tissue of an autoimmune disease: the salivary glands of patients with Sjögren's syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Structures resembling germinal centers are seen in the salivary glands of patients with Sjögren's syndrome, but it is not known whether the microenvironment of these cell clusters is sufficient for the induction of a germinal center response.

IgA class antibodies to hepatitis delta virus antigen in acute and chronic hepatitis delta virus infections [PDF]

open access: yesHepatology, 1991
Sera from 31 patients with chronic hepatitis delta virus infection and 18 patients with acute hepatitis delta virus infection were examined for IgA class antibodies to this virus using a newly developed enzyme immunoassay. IgA antibody to hepatitis D virus was detected in 21 (67.7%) of 31 patients with chronic delta viral ...

The burden of clostridium difficile infection in patients with liver cirrhosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Clostridium Difficile Infection (CDI) has registered a dramatically increasing incidence in the general population over the past decades. Nowadays, Clostridium Difficile is the leading cause of hospital-acquired diarrhea in Europe and North America ...

Histone H1e interacts with small hepatitis delta antigen and affects hepatitis delta virus replication

open access: yesVirology, 2008
Hepatitis delta virus (HDV) encodes two isoforms of delta antigens (HDAgs). The small form of HDAg (SHDAg) is required for HDV RNA replication, while the large form of HDAg (LHDAg) is required for viral assembly. Using tandem affinity purification method combined with mass spectrometry, we found that linker histone H1e bound to SHDAg.

Functional diversity of chemokines and chemokine receptors in response to viral infection of the central nervous system. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Encounters with neurotropic viruses result in varied outcomes ranging from encephalitis, paralytic poliomyelitis or other serious consequences to relatively benign infection.

Evaluating the Antiviral Efficacy of Encapsulated PKC Inhibitor BIM‐I against influenza A Virus Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores nanoparticle delivery of the protein kinase C inhibitor bisindolylmaleimide‐I (BIM‐I) to combat influenza A virus infections. Encapsulation in biodegradable PLGA nanoparticles improved safety while maintaining the compound's strong antiviral activity.
