11,12-Secoprostaglandins. 4. 7-(N-Alkylmethanesulfonamido)heptanoic acids

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1977
A series of 7-(N-alkylmethanesulfonamido) heptanoic acids has been prepared which represents an extension of our 8-aza-11,12-secoprostaglandin studies. The studies. The compounds mimic the natural prostaglandins in that they markedly stimulate cAMP formation in the mouse ovary assay.

Adsorption of Heptanol, Heptanoic Acid, and Heptanoate Anions at Water–Air Interfaces

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1996
Abstract The surface tensions of heptanoic acid and n -heptanol aqueous solutions were measured at 20°C at different pH. The obtained results indicate that preferably the nondissociated form of acid is adsorbed at the water–air interface. Adsorption of heptanoate anions occurs at much higher concentrations, and they are adsorbed less closely.

Decarboxylative coupling of heptanoic acid. Manganese, cerium and zirconium oxides as catalysts

Applied Catalysis A: General, 2000
Abstract A series of catalysts containing 20 wt.% of Mn, Ce and Zr oxides deposited on Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 and TiO 2 has been studied in ketonisation of heptanoic acid. The most pronounced effect of alumina support on catalysts activity has been noted. Manganese oxide catalysts have shown the highest activity.

KILIANI'S REDUCTION OF GLUCOSE AND FRUCTOSE CYANOHYDRINS TO THE CORRESPONDING HEPTANOIC ACIDS AND LACTONES

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1953
Kiliani's classic reduction of α-glucoheptonic (D-gluco-D-guloheptonic) lactone led to small, variable yields of n-heptanoic acid and varying amounts of the lactone of a hydroxy-n-heptanoic acid. A repetition of this work showed that the combined yields of these two products reached a maximum near 70% of theory when the reduction with constant-boiling

Subatmospheric Vapor Pressure Curves for Propionic Acid, Butyric Acid, Isobutyric Acid, Valeric Acid, Isovaleric Acid, Hexanoic Acid, and Heptanoic Acid

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 2004
Vapor pressure data were measured for the following carboxylic acids:  propionic, butyric, isobutyric, valeric, isovaleric, hexanoic, and heptanoic acids. The pressure ranged between ∼5 kPa and atmospheric pressure (at sea level), and the corresponding temperatures were between 85 and 180 °C, depending on the acid being measured.

Effects of heptanoic and oleic acids on the phase separation temperatures of methanol/hydrocarbon/water mixtures

Energy & Fuels, 1989
The efficacy of heptanoic and oleic acids as phase separation temperature depressants for methanol/hydrocarbon/water blends was examined. A simulated fuel consisting of 50% 2,2,4-trimethylpentane (isooctane) and 50% toluene (by volume) was used as the hydrocarbon. The amount of water present was varied from 0% to 0.3% (w/w).
