11,12-Secoprostaglandins. 4. 7-(N-Alkylmethanesulfonamido)heptanoic acids
A series of 7-(N-alkylmethanesulfonamido) heptanoic acids has been prepared which represents an extension of our 8-aza-11,12-secoprostaglandin studies. The studies. The compounds mimic the natural prostaglandins in that they markedly stimulate cAMP formation in the mouse ovary assay.

Abstract ω-Hydroxyundec-9-enoic acid and n -heptanoic acid are valuable building blocks for the production of flavors and antifungal agents as well as bioplastics such as polyamides and polyesters. However, a biosynthetic process to allow high productivity and product yield has not been reported.

Adsorption of Heptanol, Heptanoic Acid, and Heptanoate Anions at Water–Air Interfaces
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1996Abstract The surface tensions of heptanoic acid and n -heptanol aqueous solutions were measured at 20°C at different pH. The obtained results indicate that preferably the nondissociated form of acid is adsorbed at the water–air interface. Adsorption of heptanoate anions occurs at much higher concentrations, and they are adsorbed less closely.

Decarbonylation of heptanoic acid over carbon-supported platinum nanoparticles
The decarbonylation and decarboxylation of heptanoic acid over carbon-supported Pt nanoparticles were studied in a continuous flow fixed bed reactor at 573 K and 37 bar for liquid-phase operation and 1 bar for gas-phase operation. Under liquid-phase conditions, the TOF over Pt supported on Norit carbon was 0.0052 s−1 and independent of Pt loading.

Vapor pressure data were measured for the following carboxylic acids: propionic, butyric, isobutyric, valeric, isovaleric, hexanoic, and heptanoic acids. The pressure ranged between ∼5 kPa and atmospheric pressure (at sea level), and the corresponding temperatures were between 85 and 180 °C, depending on the acid being measured.

AFM study of calcite surface exposed to stearic and heptanoic acids
Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2008Atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to investigate the physical properties of calcite surfaces after exposure to short chain alkanes and organic acids and to compare micrometer scale behaviour with macroscopic surface wetting previously observed using contact angle measurement.

Decarboxylative coupling of heptanoic acid. Manganese, cerium and zirconium oxides as catalysts
Applied Catalysis A: General, 2000Abstract A series of catalysts containing 20 wt.% of Mn, Ce and Zr oxides deposited on Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 and TiO 2 has been studied in ketonisation of heptanoic acid. The most pronounced effect of alumina support on catalysts activity has been noted. Manganese oxide catalysts have shown the highest activity.
