Analytical Evaluation of Hierarchical Planning Systems [PDF]

open access: yesOperations Research, 1981
Hierarchical planning systems have become popular for multilevel decision problems. After reviewing the concept of hierarchical planning and citing some examples, we describe a method for analytic evaluation of a hierarchical planning system. We show that multilevel decision problems can be nicely modeled as multistage stochastic programs.

Hierarchical Path-Planning for Mobile Robots Using a Skeletonization-Informed Rapidly Exploring Random Tree*

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
An efficient, hierarchical, two-dimensional (2D) path-planning method for large complex environments is presented in this paper. For mobile robots moving in 2D environments, conventional path-planning algorithms employ single-layered maps; the proposed ...

HIERARCHICAL PATH PLANNING FOR WALKING (ALMOST) ANYWHERE [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2018
Computerized path planning, not constrained to transportation networks, may be useful in a range of settings, from search and rescue to archaeology. This paper develops a method for general path planning intended to work across arbitrary distances and at

Semantic contrast ahead: contrast guides pre-planning in complex noun-phrase production

open access: yesLanguage and Cognition
Whether or not pre-planning extends beyond the initial noun in a noun phrase depends, in part, on the phrase’s dependency structure. Dependency structure disambiguates, in many contexts, the noun phrase’s reference. In the present experiment (N = 64), we

A Safe and Efficient Navigation Framework for Ground Vehicles on Uneven Terrain Considering Kinematic Constraints and Terrain Traversability

open access: yesSensors
Ground vehicles navigating uneven terrain must simultaneously guarantee motion safety and efficiency. Safety requires that the planned waypoints lie in highly traversable terrain, while ensuring vehicle reachability to these waypoints, which must be ...
