Effects of dietary lipid levels on growth performance and feed utilization in juvenile Black Sea turbot (Psetta maxima) with reference to nitrogen excretion

open access: yesMarine Science and Technology Bulletin, 2014
In the present study, iso-nitrogenous test diets were formulated to contain two different levels of lipid (9% and 12%) with dietary energy ranging from 19 kJ/g to 20 kJ/g diet. White fish meal was the main protein source of the diet and the protein level

Effects of Dietary Protein to Lipid Ratio and Insect Meal on Growth Performance, Feed Utilization, and the Gut Microbiome of Lake Whitefish (Coregonus clupeaformis)

open access: yesAquaculture Nutrition
Wild stocks of lake whitefish (Coregonus clupeaformis) are declining in the Great Lakes, and there is a lack of information on their nutritional requirements and gut health indicators to effectively culture them in an aquaculture setting. The aim of this

A field study to optimize protein and lipid levels in diet for cage-cultured subadult rockfish Sebastes schlegelii

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
A feeding trial was conducted to evaluate growth, body composition, serum biochemistry, digestion and metabolism, and oxidation resistence of S. schlegelii fed 9 diets in a 3×3 factorial design (protein levels: 44 %, 48 %, 52 %; lipid levels: 6 %, 10 ...

Adiponectin and adiponectin receptors in common carp (Cyprinus carpio): Tissue distribution and their expressions in response to high-carbohydrate and high-lipid diets

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2022
In order to investigate the roles of adiponectin in glucose and lipid metabolism in common carp, the tissue distribution of adiponectin and its receptor genes in common carp were firstly detected in this study, and then the effects of high-carbohydrate ...

Effects of oil and natural or synthetic vitamin E on ruminal and milk fatty acid profiles in cows receiving a high-starch diet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Among trans fatty acids, trans-10,cis-12 CLA has negative effects on cow milk fat production and can affect human health. In high-yielding dairy cows, a shift from the trans-11 to the trans-10 pathway of biohydrogenation (BH) can occur in the rumen of ...

Iron homeostasis disruption and lipid peroxidation in skeletal muscle during short‐term immobilization

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Dietary lipid content modifies wah-1/AIFM1-associated phenotypes via LRK-1 and DRP-1 expression in C. elegans

open access: yesNature Communications
Eukaryotic cells rely on mitochondria to fine-tune their metabolism in response to environmental and nutritional changes. However, how mitochondria adapt to nutrient availability and how diets impact mitochondrial disease progression, remain unclear ...

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Effect of Diet Containing Gracilaria Sp. Waste and Multi-Enzyme Additives on Blood Lipid Profile of Local Duck

open access: yesAnimal Production: Indonesian Journal of Animal Production, 2016
This study was aimed to evaluate the effect of diet containing waste of seaweed Gracilaria sp. on local duck blood lipid profiles including cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein (LDL), and high density lipoprotein (HDL).

Targeted Lipidomics Reveal the Effect of Perchlorate on Lipid Profiles in Liver of High-Fat Diet Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition, 2022
Perchlorate, commonly available in drinking water and food, acts on the iodine uptake by the thyroid affecting lipid metabolism. High-fat diets leading to various health problems continually raise public concern.
