Simulation of High-Temperature Drying of Wood
Drying Technology, 2010An existing model of heat and mass transfer in wood at conventional temperatures was adapted to simulate the wood drying process at temperatures above the boiling point by adding a pressure equation. Two drying tests were conducted on white spruce (Picea glauca) sapwood and heartwood in a laboratory kiln at 105 and 115°C to validate the model.

Combination High-Temperature, Ambient-Air Drying
Transactions of the ASAE, 1981ABSTRACT THE results of four years of high temperature, high-speed drying followed by in-storage, ambient-air dry-ing are presented. These results show that combination drying results in a reduction in propane or natural gas energy requirements compared to conventional high-temperature drying with in-dryer cooling.

The moisture-transport mechanism between fibre saturation and irreducible saturation was elucidated, and moisture flow within the thin layer of damaged cells at the sawn surfaces of the timber board was examined.
