Altitude hypoxia and hypoxemia: pathogenesis and management

open access: yesSignal Transduction and Targeted Therapy
At high altitudes, which typically exceed 2500 m, approximately 80 million people reside permanently, with over a million visitors annually. The primary effect of high altitude is hypobaric hypoxia, which leads to decreased oxygen availability and a ...

Hypoxic preacclimatization combining intermittent hypoxia exposure with physical exercise significantly promotes the tolerance to acute hypoxia

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
Background: Both hypoxia exposure and physical exercise before ascending have been proved to promote high altitude acclimatization, whether the combination of these two methods can bring about a better effect remains uncertain.

Highly Efficient and Environmentally Stable Radiative Cooling Fabric: Integrating Photoluminescence and Hierarchical Core–Shell Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A scalable radiative cooling fabric engineered with a multi‐layer assembly core–shell structure and integrated photoluminescent materials is reported. The fabric exhibits remarkable environmental stability, including UV resistance, mechanical durability, hydrophobicity, stain resistance, thermal stability, and flame retardancy, demonstrating its ...

Tumor cell-derived EMP1 is essential for cancer-associated fibroblast infiltration in tumor microenvironment of triple-negative breast cancer

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
The role of epithelial membrane protein 1 (EMP1) in tumor microenvironment (TME) remodeling has not yet been elucidated. In addition, the biological function of EMP1 in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is largely unclear.

Optical High-Capacity Satellite Downlinks via High-Altitude Platform Relays

open access: yes, 2007
Earth-observation (EO) satellite missions produce a large amount of data using high-resolution optical or radar sensors. During the last decades the amount of data has steadily increased due to improved sensor technologies with increased temporal ...

Natural Resistance to Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome in Estrildid Finches Reveals Macrophage GPR183 as a Potential Therapeutic Target

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ovarian macrophage depletion reverses OHSS resistance in estrildid finches and exacerbates OHSS symptoms in rats. Activating macrophage GPR183 alleviates OHSS by reducing pro‐inflammatory factors, increasing immunomodulatory molecules, remodeling CD44/SDC4‐mediated communication, and restoring immune homeostasis.

UHPLC-QTOFMS-Based Metabolomic Analysis of the Hippocampus in Hypoxia Preconditioned Mouse

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Background: Hypoxia appears in a number of extreme environments, including high altitudes, the deep sea, and during aviation, and occurs in cancer, cardiovascular disease, respiratory failures and neurological disorders. Though it is well recognized that

Mechanisms and drug therapy of pulmonary hypertension at high altitude

open access: yes, 2013
Pulmonary vasoconstriction represents a physiological adaptive mechanism to high altitude. If exaggerated, however, it is associated with important morbidity and mortality.

Metasurface‐Enabled Active‐Like Passive Radar

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable space‐time‐coding metasurface embeds distinct spatiotemporal tags into ambient wireless signals, allowing passive radar to operate in an active‐like manner. By enabling code‐correlated reconstruction under interference, the approach supports robust real‐time UAV tracking in complex environments and points to intelligent, low‐power ...

A conceptual design methodology for low speed high altitude long endurance unmanned aerial vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A conceptual design methodology was produced and subsequently coded into a Visual C++ (GUI) environment to facilitate the rapid comparison of several possible configurations to satisfy High Altitude Long Endurance (FIALE) unmanned aircraft (UAV ...
