The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A new model of fluid flow to determine pressure balance characteristics [PDF]
Some projects such as the EUROMET project 463 have underlined the lack of agreement between experimental measurements and calculations by the finite element method (FEM), used to determine the piston fall rate of a high-pressure balance used in primary ...

Virgin olive oil processing by high voltage electrical discharge or high hydrostatic pressure [PDF]
We test the application of two emerging technologies to virgin olive oil (VOO) processing. high voltage electrical discharge (HVED) was tested at 20 kV and about 100 kJ/kg of VOO. High-pressure processing (HPP) was applied for 360 s at about 600 MPa. VOO

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

In this study, high pressure processing (HPP) and thermal treatment were comparatively evaluated by examining their impacts on the binding behavior and interaction between α-lactalbumin (α-La) and pelargonium-3-glucoside (P3G) under pH values of 6.0, 7.4,

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
