Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Nonthermal pasteurization of beer by high pressure processing: modelling the inactivation of saccharomyces cerevisiae ascospores in different alcohol beers

open access: yes, 2016
The industrial production of beer ends with a process of thermal pasteurization. In this research, the nonthermal pasteurization of beer by high pressure processing (HPP) was carried out.

Inner ear tissue preservation by rapid freezing: Improving fixation by high-pressure freezing and hybrid methods. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the preservation of tissues in as 'close to life' state as possible, rapid freeze fixation has many benefits over conventional chemical fixation. One technique by which rapid freeze-fixation can be achieved, high pressure freezing (HPF), has been ...

Molecular dynamics simulation of boric acid extraction by isobutanol/isooctanol liquid-liquid extraction

open access: yesChemical Engineering Journal Advances
Boric acid, a vital chemical in industries, agriculture, and high-tech fields, is primarily extracted from Salt Lake brines via liquid-liquid extraction. The efficiency differences between alcohols remain unclear.

Comparing the Effect of HPP on the Structure and Stability of Soluble and Membrane-Bound Polyphenol Oxidase from ‘Lijiang Snow’ Peach: Multispectroscopic and Molecular Dynamics Simulation

open access: yesFoods, 2023
Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) easily causes fruits and vegetables to lose their color and nutritional value. As a non-thermal process, high-pressure processing (HPP) showed different inactivation effects on endogenous enzymes. In this work, soluble PPO (sPPO)

High hydrostatic pressure processing of beetroot juice: effects on nutritional, sensory and microbiological quality

open access: yes, 2019
Beetroot juice is a source of polyphenols and betalains. Betalains serve both as colourants and bioactive compounds, and are known to be sensitive to temperature.

Effect of strain state on the surface roughening for hydroforming of aluminum alloy tube based on cross-scale numerical modeling

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The complex deformation behavior would result in surface roughening such as orange peel defect during the hydroforming process of aluminum alloy tubular parts.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Effect of high hydrostatic pressure processing and squeezing pressure on some quality properties of pomegranate juice against thermal treatment

open access: yes, 2017
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) treatment (200, 300, 400MPa; 5 degrees C, 15 degrees C and 25 degrees C; 5 and 10 min) on some quality properties of pomegranate juice.
