Proprotein Convertase Subtilisin/Kexin Type 9 (PCSK9): The Multifaceted Biology, Diseases, and Pharmaceutical Interventions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 11, November 2025.
Summary of PCSK9 inhibitor mechanisms. PCSK9 inhibitors (PCSK9‐i) primarily lower LDL‐cholesterol (LDL‐C) by blocking PCSK9‐mediated degradation of hepatic LDL receptors (LDLR), enhancing LDL clearance. Beyond LDLR‐dependent effects, PCSK9‐i exert multiple benefits via LDLR‐independent pathways.

Centromeric Sequences in Ogataea polymorpha Genome Enable Development of Stable Multigene Expression Plasmid Tools

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 11, November 2025.
The centromeric sequences of Ogataea polymorpha, a methylotrophic non‐conventional yeast, were characterised for the first time and support the development of new genetically stable centromeric plasmids with high genetic stability and compatibility, providing powerful genetic toolboxes for the synthetic biology and metabolic engineering‐driven ...

Emerging Strategies for Platelet‐Modified Nanoparticles in Targeted Tumor Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 5, Issue 10, October 2025.
This review highlights innovative strategies using platelet‐modified nanoparticles to target tumors more precisely. By mimicking platelet functions, these biomimetic carriers improve tumor homing, enhance drug delivery, and reduce immune clearance.

Tubular Injury in Diabetic Kidney Disease: Early Diagnosis and Intervention Strategies

open access: yesDiabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, Volume 41, Issue 7, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the most severe complication of diabetes mellitus and has poor prognosis, often progressing to end‐stage renal disease, causing substantial morbidity and mortality globally. While the pathogenesis of DKD has been extensively characterised, including glomerular hyperfiltration, podocyte injury, and ...

Comparison of leeching and heparin therapy in management of acute venous congestion of limbs in rat

open access: yesPharmaceutical and Biomedical Research, 2016
Acute venous congestion leads to blood stasis in the tissue and impaired blood perfusion. Using medicinal leech is an old method for reducing tissue congestion.

Diabetic Kidney Disease‐Associated Pathological Angiogenesis: The Role of Aquaporin‐1

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes, Volume 17, Issue 10, October 2025.
Hyperglycemia upregulates AQP1 expression in renal endothelial cells, promoting abnormal angiogenesis. Structurally and functionally immature vessels lead to glomerular capillary leakage, proteinuria, and progressive renal injury. Targeting AQP1 may attenuate abnormal angiogenesis in DKD and slow disease progression.
