Molecular dynamics simulation studies of drug resistance in HIV-1 protease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Overcoming the emergence of drug resistance in HIV is a major challenge to the scientific community. We use the established computational method of classical molecular dynamics to investigate the molecular basis of resistance in HIV-1 protease to the ...

DMS‐MaPseq and DREEM Analyses Implicate the Critical Role of RNA Structural Dynamics in Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus Pathogenicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RNA structural profiling of Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus by DMS‐MaPseq and DREEM analyses uncover that viral genome‐wide RSS is highly complicated and heterogeneous, with alternative RSSs widely distributed across the genome. Notably, the viral 3’ tRNA‐like structure adopts alternative conformations in vivo.

Accelerating Primary Screening of USP8 Inhibitors from Drug Repurposing Databases with Tree‐Based Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This study introduces a tree‐based machine learning approach to accelerate USP8 inhibitor discovery. The best‐performing model identified 100 high‐confidence repurposable compounds, half already approved or in clinical trials, and uncovered novel scaffolds not previously studied. These findings offer a solid foundation for rapid experimental follow‐up,

Interactions in vivo between the Vif protein of HIV-1 and the precursor (Pr55GAG) of the virion nucleocapsid proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The abnormality of viral core structure seen in vif-defective HIV-1 grown in PBMCs has suggested a role for Vif in viral morphogenesis. Using an in vivo mammalian two-hybrid assay, the interaction between Vif and the precursor (Pr55GAG) of the virion ...

Longitudinal study of HIV protease mutations in oral tissues of selected patients

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Oral Sciences, 2015
Twenty-nine HIV-1 infected patients from New Orleans were enrolled as a cohort for this study over a four and one half year period. HIV-1 protease gene (pro) sequences were amplified using DNA isolated from oral tissues (gingival cuff, buccal mucosa ...

Accurate and efficient description of protein vibrational dynamics: comparing molecular dynamics and Gaussian models

open access: yes, 2004
Current all-atom potential based molecular dynamics (MD) allow the identification of a protein's functional motions on a wide-range of time-scales, up to few tens of ns.

Clinical pharmacology and prescribing education: An updated medical school curriculum from the British Pharmacological Society

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Prescribing is a complex, essential skill that doctors must acquire to practice medicine safely and effectively. The British Pharmacological Society has historically provided a core curriculum to guide clinical pharmacology and prescribing education in UK medical schools.
