HIV-1 gp120 mannoses induce immunosuppressive responses from dendritic cells.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2007
The human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) envelope glycoprotein gp120 is a vaccine immunogen that can signal via several cell surface receptors.

Neutralization of feline immunodeficiency virus by antibodies targeting the V5 loop of Env [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Neutralising antibodies (NAbs) play a vital role in vaccine-induced protection against infection with feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). However, little is known about the appropriate presentation of neutralisation epitopes in order to induce NAbs ...

Nanostructured Electrochemical Sensors for Rapid HIV Detection

open access: yesJournal of Sensors, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Many significant and transmissible diseases, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), COVID‐19, hepatitis, and influenza, are caused by viruses. The rapid replication ability of these viruses is the primary reason for their widespread transmission, resulting in consequences such as loss of life at both ...

Preliminary evaluation of KYNA ameliorates neuronal pyroptosis induced by HIV-1 gp120

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases
Backgrounds: HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) are the common complications in the central nervous system (CNS), mainly causing HIV dementia and leading to serious social economic load.

The HIV-1 envelope protein gp120 is captured and displayed for B cell recognition by SIGN-R1+ lymph node macrophages

open access: yeseLife, 2015
The HIV-1 envelope protein gp120 is both the target of neutralizing antibodies and a major focus of vaccine efforts; however how it is delivered to B cells to elicit an antibody response is unknown.

Efficacy of Immunostimulatory Adjuvants and Nano‐Adjuvants in Current SARS‐CoV‐2 Vaccines: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims SARS‐CoV‐2 continues to pose global challenges, and current vaccines face limitations (variant escape, waning immunity). This review evaluates immunostimulatory adjuvants and nano‐adjuvants to enhance immune responses and optimize SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccine performance.

Search for antiviral functions of potentially protective antibodies against V2 region of HIV-1

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics, 2020
In the only successful RV144 vaccine trial to date, high levels of antibodies (Abs) against the V2 region of the virus envelope protein gp120 correlated with reduced HIV-1 infection.

Discrete partitioning of HIV-1 Env forms revealed by viral capture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: The structure of HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein (Env) is flexible and heterogeneous on whole virions. Although functional Env complexes are thought to require trimerization of cleaved gp41/gp120 heterodimers, variable processing can result in ...

Characterization of HIV‐1 Particles Co‐Purified With Three Extracellular Vesicle Subtypes From the Raji CD4 DCIR Cell Line, a Hybrid Model of CD4 T Cells and Dendritic Cells

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 4, Issue 11, November 2025.
The characterization of EVs and viruses co‐purified by differential centrifugation highlighted their diversity. The 3K pellet contained viruses with high infectivity, along with DAP‐3 and mitochondrial DNA enriched EVs. A lower infectivity was associated with the 17K pellet. The 17K EVs displayed ICAM‐1 and contained HSP70 and mitochondrial DNA.
