Clinical Significance of PD‐L1 and HLA Expression in Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Response to Immunotherapy

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study evaluated immune‐related biomarkers in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors after postoperative recurrence. PD‐L1 expression in tumor‐associated macrophages and tumor cells, together with HLA class I downregulation and HLA‐DR expression, were associated with favorable responses to immunotherapy.

Machine Learning‐Enhanced Random Matrix Theory Design for Human Immunodeficiency Virus Vaccine Development

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This study integrates random matrix theory (RMT) and principal component analysis (PCA) to improve the identification of correlated regions in HIV protein sequences for vaccine design. PCA validation enhances the reliability of RMT‐derived correlations, particularly in small‐sample, high‐dimensional datasets, enabling more accurate detection of ...

HLA typing.

open access: yesArchives of pathology & laboratory medicine, 1976
I present an overview of HLA typing, a method of evaluating donor-recipient compatibility. The major histocompatibility system in man, the HLA region, considered to control the immunologic response to transplantation and perhaps to certain diseases, is discussed in relation to chromosomal location, chromosomal mapping, association with other markers ...

Eltrombopag Added to Standard Immunosuppressive Treatment as Front‐Line Therapy for Severe Aplastic Anemia: Long‐Term Outcomes of the Phase‐3 Randomized Superiority EBMT‐SAAWP RACE Study

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The RACE study (NCT02009747) compared horse antithymocyte globulin (hATG) plus cyclosporine A (CsA) ± eltrombopag as initial immunosuppressive treatment (IST) for severe aplastic anemia. Here we report the final 2‐year analysis of this prospective randomized phase III study.

Characterization and Analysis of PHEX Variants in Patients With Hypophosphatemia in Argentina

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Confirming the underlying molecular etiology of hereditary hypophosphatemia (HH) to provide recurrence risk counseling is highly important. Our aims were to describe the detected variants and their distribution across Argentina and to contrast them with published data.

Strategies for inducing diabetes in laboratory animals: Advances from chemical, surgical, immunologic, dietary, and genetic approaches

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the principal experimental approaches used to induce diabetes in animal models. Strategies include chemical agents (streptozotocin, alloxan, dithizone, gold thioglucose), dietary interventions (high‐fat and high‐sugar diets), surgical methods (total or partial pancreatectomy), genetic models (db/db, ob/ob, Goto‐Kakizaki [GK ...

Human Leukocyte Antigen Typing in Organ Transplantation: Methods, Clinical Relevance, and Practical Applications

open access: yesIndian Journal of Kidney Diseases
Transplantation of tissues and organs is one of the greatest achievements of this century. Antigens which vary between members of same species are known as allo-antigens.
