The impact of insulin resistance on thyroid function and the prevalence of thyroid follicular nodular disease in pregnant women

open access: yesEuropean Thyroid Journal
Introduction: Insulin resistance (IR) is a phenomenon commonly observed in pregnancy. Increased insulin concentrations might impact thyroid function and structure during gestation.

The impact of pegylated interferon and ribavirin combination treatment on lipid metabolism and insulin resistance in chronic hepatitis C patients [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Molecular Hepatology, 2014
Background/AimsLipid profile and insulin resistance (IR) are associated with hepatitis C virus (HCV) and may predict the chronic hepatitis C (CHC) treatment response.

Macrophage extracellular vesicles deliver Mef2d proteins to aggravate Bacteroides fragilis pathogenicity in type 2 diabetes arterial calcification

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Bacteroides fragilis is associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) arterial calcification and can be activated by macrophage‐derived extracellular vesicles (EVs). BF takes up EVs via receptor‐mediated endocytosis, and activation is induced by EV‐derived Mef2d, thereby inhibiting ArsR family transcriptional regulator transcription.

Sleep deprivation aggravates hepatocytes steatosis and insulin resistance by regulating exosomal microRNAs

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Sleep deprivation accelerates the progression of MASLD and IR by up‐regulating the expression of miR‐3572‐5p and down‐regulating the expression of miR‐183‐5p in circulating exosomes, thereby inhibiting fatty acid β‐oxidation and disrupting insulin signaling pathways. Abstract Sleep deprivation (SD) threatens human health and increases the prevalence of

Glycemic Regulation and Renal Function by Heavy Metal Exposure: A Cross‐Sectional Analysis on Cement Plant Workers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heavy metal exposure is known to have various effects on renal function and blood glucose regulation. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of cement dust and some metal (cadmium, manganese, nickel, and zinc) exposure on blood glucose and renal function parameters in male cement plant workers.

Epirubicin Alters Pancreatic Autophagy and Insulin Synthesis Through a Zinc‐Dependent Mechanism

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Epirubicin (EPI) can cause metabolic side effects, including chemotherapy‐related diabetes, partly through oxidative stress that disrupts zinc (Zn) homeostasis and impairs autophagy. This study investigated the effects of EPI on Zn regulation and autophagy in the pancreas, as well as the modulatory role of N‐acetylcysteine (NAC). Rats received

Toxic Effects of Bisphenol A and Its Analogs on Ovarian Structure and Function: A Narrative Review of Ovary‐Focused Studies

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bisphenol A (BPA) is a widely used industrial chemical found in polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins and is recognized for its endocrine‐disrupting properties. Human exposure is common due to its presence in food packaging and everyday products. As BPA use has been restricted, structurally similar compounds such as BPS, BPB, BPAF, and BADGE

The HOMA-Adiponectin (HOMA-AD) Closely Mirrors the HOMA-IR Index in the Screening of Insulin Resistance in the Brazilian Metabolic Syndrome Study (BRAMS).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
BackgroundThe major adverse consequences of obesity are associated with the development of insulin resistance (IR) and adiposopathy. The Homeostasis Model Assessment-Adiponectin (HOMA-AD) was proposed as a modified version of the HOMA1-IR, which ...

Association of insulin resistance with polymorphic variants of Clock and Bmal1 genes: A case–control study

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Hypertension, 2020
Background: Little information is available in the literature for the correlation of insulin resistance (IR) and CLOCK gene polymorphism in Chinese population.
