A dynamic regulome of shoot-apical-meristem-related homeobox transcription factors modulates plant architecture in maize

open access: yesGenome Biology
Background The shoot apical meristem (SAM), from which all above-ground tissues of plants are derived, is critical to plant morphology and development. In maize (Zea mays), loss-of-function mutant studies have identified several SAM-related genes, most ...

A New Vista of Opportunity in Diabetes Management: Natural Product‐Based β‐cell Preservation

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Preserving functional β‐cells via natural products offers promising strategy for diabetes treatment. ABSTRACT A defining characteristic of diabetes is β‐cell failure, in which β‐cells cannot modulate insulin secretion to compensate for escalating insulin resistance, pushing forward disease development.

IRX-related homeobox gene MKX is a novel oncogene in acute myeloid leukemia.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Homeobox genes encode transcription factors which organize differentiation processes in all tissue types including the hematopoietic compartment. Recently, we have reported physiological expression of TALE-class homeobox gene IRX1 in early myelopoiesis ...

A symphony of inner ear developmental control genes

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2010
The inner ear is one of the most complex and detailed organs in the vertebrate body and provides us with the priceless ability to hear and perceive linear and angular acceleration (hence maintain balance).

Somatic cell reprogramming for Parkinson's disease treatment

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 59-73, Spring 2025.
The fundamental purpose of cell reprogramming to treat Parkinson's disease is to generate dopaminergic neurons (DAN) and do transplantation. There are two ways to accomplish this. One method is to induce cells into induced DA neurons (iDAN) directly or to induce cells into induced pluripotent stem cells and ultimately into iDAN in vitro. Another option

Zinc Finger E‐Box Binding Homeobox 1 Mediates Alcohol‐Induced Liver Disease

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
Alcohol intake leads to the upregulation of ZEB1, which activates the YAP‐IL‐1β/MCP‐1 pathway, resulting in the activation of liver inflammation and the induction of hepatocyte apoptosis. ABSTRACT Hepatitis resulting from alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is an important risk factor for liver cancer. It is essential to understand the role of ALD to prevent

Holistic bone developing microenvironment engineered apoptotic extracellular vesicles recapitulate multidimensional developmental signatures in adult and senile bone repair

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
The developing bone was identified as an M2a‐like macrophage driven immune microenvironment with multidimensional developmental signatures. hME‐ApoEVs were successfully fabricated via stimulating the M2a‐like developing microenvironment in vitro and confirmed its recapitulation of developmental features.
