Hormonal Signaling and Pituitary Adenomas

Neuroendocrinology, 2007
In recent years the demonstration that human pituitary adenomas are monoclonal in origin provides further evidence that pituitary neoplasia arise from the replication of a single mutated cell in which growth advantage results from either activation of proto-oncogenes or inactivation of tumor suppressor genes.

Growth Hormone Signal Transduction

Journal of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2002
Multiple signaling pathways mediate the diverse effects of growth hormone (GH) on growth and metabolism. The interaction of GH with GH receptors (GHR) on target cells promotes the association of the cellular tyrosine kinase JAK2 with the GHR, initiating tyrosine phosphorylation of GHR and JAK2, and activation of multiple signaling cascades.

Patterns of Hormonal Signals and Hormone Action

New England Journal of Medicine, 1981
One of the many new insights afforded by the advent of radioimmunoassays has been the recognition that the pattern of adenohypophyseal hormone secretion is episodic rather than continuous, as had b...
