Light‐Activatable Hyaluronic Acid‐Derivatives Releasing Nitric Oxide and Their Delivery in the Skin

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores the development of photoactivatable hyaluronic acid (HA) derivatives functionalized with nitric oxide (NO) photodonors for light‐controlled therapeutic applications. The HA derivatives demonstrate enhanced keratinocyte proliferation and migration, effective NO release, and skin penetration when formulated as microemulsions.

Impact of the elderly lung mucosa on Mycobacterium tuberculosis transcriptional adaptation during infection of alveolar epithelial cells

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Tuberculosis is one of the leading causes of death due to a single infectious agent. Upon infection, Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) is deposited in the alveoli and encounters the lung mucosa or alveolar lining fluid (ALF).

Neuronal and non-neuronal signals regulate Caernorhabditis elegans avoidance of contaminated food [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
One way in which animals minimise the risk of infection is to reduce their contact with contaminated food. Here we establish a model of pathogen-contaminated food avoidance using the nematode worm Caernorhabditis elegans.

A Common Framework for Audience Interactivity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Audience interactivity is interpreted differently across domains. This research develops a framework to describe audience interactivity across a broad range of experiences. We build on early work characterizing child audience interactivity experiences, expanding on these findings with an extensive review of literature in theater, games, and theme parks,

Understanding and predicting synthetic lethal genetic interactions in Saccharomyces cerevisiae using domain genetic interactions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Genetic interactions have been widely used to define functional relationships between proteins and pathways. In this study, we demonstrated that yeast synthetic lethal genetic interactions can be explained by the genetic interactions between domains of those proteins.
