Expression of the heat shock protein HSP27 in human ovarian cancer.

Clinical cancer research : an official journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, 1999
The relationship of the heat shock protein HSP27 in ovarian cancer to several biological and clinical parameters was investigated in a series of primary tumors and cell lines. Analysis of 72 primary tumors (54 malignant, 5 borderline, and 13 benign neoplasms) indicated that malignant tumors expressed higher HSP27 concentrations than benign tumors ...

Small Heat Shock Protein 27 (HSP27) Associates with Tubulin/Microtubules in HeLa Cells

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2000
One of the monoclonal antibodies raised against mitotic HeLa cells (termed as mH3) recognized a 27-kDa protein and stained microtubules in the mitotic spindles of HeLa cells. Immunoscreening of a HeLa cDNA library revealed that mH3 antigen is a small heat shock protein, HSP27.

Small heat shock proteins Hsp27 or αB‐crystallin and the protein components of neurofibrillary tangles: Tau and neurofilaments

Journal of Neuroscience Research, 2007
AbstractThe heat‐shock proteins (HSPs) Hsp27 and αB‐crystallin are up‐regulated in Alzheimer's disease (AD), but the extent of this and the consequences are still largely unknown. The HSPs are involved in protein degradation and protection against protein aggregation, and they interact with several cytoskeletal components such as microtubules (MT) and ...

Serological detection of heat shock protein hsp27 in normal and breast cancer patients.

Cancer epidemiology, biomarkers & prevention : a publication of the American Association for Cancer Research, cosponsored by the American Society of Preventive Oncology, 1998
Heat shock protein Mr 27,000 (hsp27) is found in many human breast cancer cells and tissues; its expression is associated with the presence of estrogen receptors, lower cell proliferation, and resistance to certain chemotherapies. The purpose of this study was to assess whether hsp27 may be present in sera from women with primary breast cancer and to ...

Stage-specific localization of the small heat shock protein Hsp27 during oogenesis in Drosophila melanogaster

Chromosoma, 1996
The developmental and heat shock-induced expression of the small heat shock protein Hsp27 was investigated by confocal microscopy of whole-mount immunostained preparations of ovarioles during oogenesis in Drosophila melanogaster. In unstressed flies, Hsp27 was mainly associated with germline nurse cells throughout egg development.

Impaired Chaperone Activity of Human Heat Shock Protein Hsp27 Site‐Specifically Modified with Argpyrimidine

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2016
AbstractNon‐enzymatic posttranslational modifications (nPTMs) affect at least ∼30 % of human proteins, but our understanding of their impact on protein structure and function is limited. Studies of nPTMs are difficult because many modifications are not included in common chemical libraries or protein expression systems and should be introduced site ...

Role of Heat Shock Protein 27 (HSP27) in the Pathogenesis of Neurodegenerative Diseases

2012
Introduction: Many neurodegenerative diseases are characterized by neuronal inclusion bodies that share common co-localizing proteins, including chaperone proteins like heat shock protein 27 (HSP27). Although HSP27 has been extensively investigated in vivo or in vitro with regard to normal protein homeostasis, its role in the pathogenesis of ...
