Financial Distress and Its Determinants in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To quantify the degree of financial distress and identify its determinants in adults with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) given the frequent prolonged use of expensive disease‐modifying therapies. Methods We identified adults enrolled in the FORWARD databank with either RA or noninflammatory musculoskeletal disease (NIMSKD) completing the ...

Assessment of nanotoxicity in a human placenta-on-a-chip from trophoblast stem cells

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Maternal exposure to nanoparticles during gestation poses potential risks to fetal development. The placenta, serving as a vital interface for maternal-fetal interaction, plays a pivotal role in shielding the fetus from direct nanoparticle exposure ...

Innovating Aircraft Repair Processes: The Role of Digitalization in Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This research explores how digitalization—by storing detailed non‐destructive testing data in structured DICONDE databases and creating a standard data model of the component—innovates aviation maintenance and repair processes. Coupled with a developed state‐based simulation model, it enables data‐driven, sustainable repair strategies that reduce waste,

Human Liver Sinusoid on a Chip for Hepatitis B Virus Replication Study

open access: yesMicromachines, 2017
We have developed a miniature human liver (liver-sinusoid-on-a-chip) model using a dual microchannel separated by a porous membrane. Primary human hepatocytes and immortalized bovine aortic endothelial cells were co-cultured on opposite sides of a ...

Analyzing Electronic Excitations and Exciton Binding Energies in Y6 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The Y6 molecule is used for increasing the efficiency of organic solar cells. The exciton binding energy is calculated for ensembles of Y6 molecules that are representative of the typically used films. The calculations show that the excitons typically spread out over many molecules.
