Tools for Studying Human Enteroviruses and the Serological Immune Responses They Elicit [PDF]

Relationships between simian and human enteroviruses.
Partial sequences from two genomic regions of simian enteroviruses were analysed and their relatedness to other picornaviruses was compared. Of the 18 simian viruses included in the analysis, sequences were obtained from eleven strains for at least one genomic region.

ABSTRACT Eccrine squamous syringometaplasia (ESS) is an uncommon reactive alteration of eccrine ducts, most often reported in oncologic and transplant settings, where it may clinically mimic acute cutaneous graft‐versus‐host disease (GVHD). We describe a 3‐year‐old boy with chronic granulomatous disease who developed a diffuse erythematous eruption 6 ...

Beyond the Kidney and Lung: Cutaneous and Mucosal Clues to Human Hantavirus Disease
Rodent exposure and aerosolized excreta can lead to hantavirus infection with systemic endothelial injury and capillary leak, resulting in thrombocytopenia and syndromes such as HPS/HCPS and HFRS/NE. Early dermatologic and mucosal findings, including flushing, conjunctival injection, petechiae/purpura, and mucosal bleeding, may provide important clues ...

Genetics, recombination and clinical features of human rhinovirus species C (HRV-C) infections; interactions of HRV-C with other respiratory viruses [PDF]
To estimate the frequency, molecular epidemiological and clinical associations of infection with the newly described species C variants of human rhinoviruses (HRV), 3243 diagnostic respiratory samples referred for diagnostic testing in Edinburgh were ...

When to consider an inborn error of immunity: clues for physicians
Abstract The term inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) refers to the rapidly expanding group of genetic disorders causing dysregulation of the immune system. With improved genetic testing in recent years, the number of defined IEIs and their range of phenotypic presentations has grown vastly, with more than 550 IEIs now described.
