Design for human safety in manufacturing systems: applications of design theories, methodologies, tools and techniques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
During recent decades, there has been growing awareness of human safety in the design process. The purpose of this paper is to review the literature on design for human safety (DfHS) in manufacturing systems.

Human Reliability Analysis using a Human Factors Hazard Model

open access: yes, 2023
Human Reliability Analysis (HRA) has found application within a diverse set of engineering domains, but the methods used to apply HRA are often complicated, time-consuming, costly to apply, specific to particular (i.e., nuclear) applications, and are not

Simultaneous genotyping for human platelet antigen systems and HLA-A and HLA-B loci by targeted next-generation sequencing

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
In order to treat the alloimmunization platelet transfusion refractoriness (PTR), human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-type and/or human platelet antigen (HPA)-type matched platelets between donors and patients are usually used.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Perspectives on safety culture

open access: yes, 2000
Overviewing selected elements from the literature, this paper locates the notion of safety culture within its parent concept of organisational culture. A distinction is drawn between functionalist and interpretive perspectives on organisational culture ...

Research hotspots and frontier trends of flame retardants-induced adverse health effects on humans: A visualized bibliometric analysis

open access: yes环境与职业医学, 2022
BackgroundAs emerging environmental contaminants with ecological risks, flame retardants (FRs) exhibit obvious toxicity and persistence. In recent years, as FRs have been widely detected in indoor environments and human samples, the human health risks ...
