TOP1MT rs2293925 is an enhancer‐active regulatory SNP that shapes mitochondrial R‐loop dynamics

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
This study shows how a common genetic variant of mitochondrial topoisomerase 1 (TOP1MT rs2293925) can influence mitochondrial gene regulation, DNA topology, and formation of noncanonical nucleic acid structures such as R‐loops. By linking this enhancer‐active variant to mitochondrial nucleic acid stress in cellular contexts relevant to amyotrophic ...

Preparation and Characterization of Monoclonal Antibodies Against the Porcine Rotavirus VP6 Protein

open access: yesVeterinary Sciences
Porcine Rotavirus (PoRV), a predominant causative agent of neonatal diarrhea in piglets, shares substantial genetic homology with human rotavirus and represents a considerable threat to both public health and the global swine industry in the absence of ...

The use of monoclonal antibodies for the characterization and production of Mycobacterium leprae antigens

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1987
Similar immunizations of mice and hybridoma technology were used by several investigators to raise monoclonal antibodies which identified a limited range of epitopes and antigenic molecules.

Myo1g Mediates NKR‐P1C Expression in Primary Mouse NK Cells and Participates in Cytotoxicity

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
In this study we analysed the participation of Myosin 1g in the development and functions of murine natural killer (NK) cells; we found that Myosin 1g is expressed in murine‐activated primary NK cells from the spleen. Additionally, in the absence of Myosin 1g, correlates with a reduced expression of NKR‐P1C but not of CD49b or NKp46.

Antibody Engineering at the Millennium

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2000
It has been almost 100 years since von Behring and Kitasato received the first Nobel prize for the discovery of passive immunotherapy and nearly 25 years since Köhler and Milstein first reported hybridoma technology.

Ocular Manifestations of Infectious Salmon Anaemia Virus Infection in Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Eyes are essential sensory organs needed by teleost Atlantic salmon for high visual acuity and survival in both the wild and in aquaculture settings. In this work, we assessed the ocular manifestations of Infectious Salmon Anaemia Virus (ISAV) infection in Atlantic salmon by a cohabitation‐mediated infection assay and histological and ...

Novel and emerging antimicrobial strategies in the management of oral infections

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Antibiotics marked a pivotal turning point in human civilization, enhancing social interactions and extending human life expectancy. In addition to their success in treating systemic infectious diseases, they have significantly improved periodontal treatment outcomes as an adjunct therapy.

The mitochondrial‐targeted antioxidant SkQ1 prevents skeletal muscle mitochondrial‐apoptotic but not necroptotic signalling during ovarian cancer

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend An evaluation of the degree to which mitochondrial hydrogen peroxide emission (mH2O2)‐mediated apoptotic and necroptotic signalling contributes to skeletal muscle atrophy in an orthotopic epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) model. To determine whether attenuating mH2O2 could prevent regulated cell death signalling and mitigate muscle

Development of an In‐House Antigen ELISA Using Monoclonal and Polyclonal Antibodies Against an Isolated Canine Distemper Virus

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science
Canine distemper virus (CDV) is a highly contagious pathogen that affects several animal families. While animals of all ages are susceptible, puppies face the highest risk.
