Reaction of hydrazonoyl halides 1 with 2-(aroylmethyl)-6-methylpyrimidin-4(3H)-ones 3 proved to be site selective and gave 2-(3-acetyl-1,5-diarylpyrazol-4-yl)-6-methylpyrimidin-4(3H)-ones 5 via dehydrative cyclisation of the hydrazone intermediates 4. The structures of both 4 and 5 were elucidated by spectral data and alternative synthesis.

1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition of cyclic enones with 2,5‐disubstituted nitrile‐imines obtained by photochemical activation of 2,5‐diaryl substituted tetrazoles leads to the formation of novel pyrazoles and pyrazolines. Reactions can be monitored using UV‐vis absorption and emission measurements.

New functionalized 1,2,4-triazolo-[4,3-b]-1,2,4-triazino-[5,6-b]indole derivatives were synthesized via reaction of the hydrazonoyl halides with 5H-2,3-dihydro-1,2,4-triazino[5,6-b]indole-3-thione or its 3-methylthio derivative.
