GPR124 Alleviates Blood–Brain Barrier Disruption by Enhancing Microvascular Endothelial Function after Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our study reveals the protective role of GPR124 in maintaining BBB integrity and promoting neurological recovery following TBI. It makes a significant contribution by uncovering a novel molecular interaction between GPR124 and FGFBP1 and linking this to activation of the Wnt/β‐catenin signaling pathway in vascular repair mechanisms.

Evaluation of Hydrocortisone Discontinuation Strategies in Septic Shock: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesCritical Care Explorations
IMPORTANCE:. While corticosteroid administration in septic shock has been shown to reduce vasopressor requirements and accelerate shock reversal, the optimal discontinuation strategy remains unexplored. OBJECTIVES:.

Biotechnological Transformation of Hydrocortisone into 16α-Hydroxyprednisolone by Coupling Arthrobacter simplex and Streptomyces roseochromogenes

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
16α-Hydroxyprednisolone, an anti-inflammatory drug, could be potentially obtained from hydrocortisone bioconversion by combining a 1,2-dehydrogenation reaction performed by Arthrobacter simplexATCC31652 with a 16α-hydroxylation reaction by Streptomyces ...

Unraveling the Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Spontaneous Multipolar Mitosis Through CIN‐seq

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multipolar mitosis, a hallmark of chromosomal instability (CIN), drives tumor heterogeneity but is challenging to study in live cells. Using CIN‐seq, a single‐cell multiomics method, we profiled rare CIN events and identified mechanisms associated with viable multipolar mitosis, including PTEN attenuation, Rho GTPase‐driven cytokinesis failure, and ...

Mitochondrial Dysfunction Unravels the Potential Molecular Link Between Night Shift Work‐Related Circadian Disruption and Elevated Blood Pressure in Human and Mouse Models

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This diagram illustrates that night shift work disrupts circadian clock genes (like CLOCK, BMAL1) in both humans and mice. This disruption leads to mitochondrial dysfunction (imbalanced fusion/fission proteins) and increased oxidative stress, which is identified as the primary mechanism ultimately causing elevated blood pressure.

Hydrocortisone treatment is associated with early recovery from severe septic shock in patients with obstructive pyelonephritis due to upper urinary tract stone

open access: yesBJUI Compass
Objectives The administration of hydrocortisone in patients with severe septic shock contributes to early recovery in intensive care. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of hydrocortisone on early recovery from severe septic shock in ...

Traction Force Microscopy for Viscoelastic Substrates: A Semi‐Analytical Method

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A semi‐analytical viscoelastic traction force microscopy framework is introduced for quantifying time‐resolved cell tractions on flat finite‐thickness substrates. The method generalizes elastic traction force microscopy to Generalized Maxwell materials, identifies when elastic approximations remain valid and, when they do not, shows that inferred ...

Long-term administration of hydrocortisone: down-regulating the level of cytokine and resulting in injuring testicular tissue of juvenile mice

open access: yesBMC Pharmacology and Toxicology
Background As an important glucocorticosteroid hydrocortisone has been widely used in clinical practice. Even though a series of side effects induced by long-term administration of hydrocortisone are known, but side effects related to testicular injury ...

Highly Biomimetic Ectodermal Epithelial Organoids for Epithelial Barrier Stimulation Assays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Evaluating the potential toxicity of pharmaceuticals and biomaterials to ectodermal epithelia, such as the oral mucosa and skin, is indispensable in pre‐clinical assessments. However, this remains a challenge primarily owing to the lack of physiologically relevant and accurate screening models.
