Structures and mechanisms of glycosyl hydrolases [PDF]

open access: yesStructure, 1995
The wealth of information provided by the recent structure determinations of many different glycosyl hydrolases shows that the substrate specificity and the mode of action of these enzymes are governed by exquisite details of their three-dimensional structures rather than by their global fold.

Metabolism of Zearalenone in the Rumen of Dairy Cows with and without Application of a Zearalenone-Degrading Enzyme

open access: yesToxins, 2021
The mycotoxin zearalenone (ZEN) is a frequent contaminant of animal feed and is well known for its estrogenic effects in animals. Cattle are considered less sensitive to ZEN than pigs.

Representing catalytic mechanisms with rule composition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Reaction mechanisms are often presented as sequences of elementary steps, such as codified by arrow pushing. We propose an approach for representing such mechanisms using graph transformation. In this framework, each elementary step is a rule for modifying a molecular graph and a mechanism is a sequence of such rules.

Characterization of Hyaluronidase 4 Involved in the Catabolism of Chondroitin Sulfate

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Hyaluronidases (HYALs) are endo-beta-N-acetylhexosaminidases that depolymerize not only hyaluronan but also chondroitin sulfate (CS) at the initial step of their catabolism. Although HYAL1 hydrolyzes both CS and HA, HYAL4 is a CS-specific endoglycosidase.

Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase in Atherosclerosis [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Atherosclerosis Reports, 2010
Like many eicosanoids, epoxyeicosatrienoic acids (EETs) have multiple biological functions, including reduction of blood pressure, inflammation, and atherosclerosis in multiple species. Hydration of EETs by the soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) is the major route of their degradation to the less bioactive diols.

Kinetics, Thermodynamics and Mechanism of Enzymatic Degradation of Zearalenone in Degummed Corn Oil

open access: yesToxins, 2022
The kinetics and thermodynamics of the enzymatic degradation of zearalenone (ZEN) in degummed corn oil were investigated by analyzing the impacts of temperature, pH, ZEN hydrolase dosage and ZEN concentration on the initial reaction rate.

Unraveling Mycobacterium tuberculosis acid resistance and pH homeostasis mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis exhibits a remarkable resilience to acid stress. In this Review, we discuss some of the molecular mechanisms and metabolic pathways used by the tubercle bacilli to adapt and resist host‐mediated acid stress. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) is a successful pathogen that has developed a variety of strategies to survive and ...

Structure Elucidation, Total Synthesis, Antibacterial In Vivo Efficacy and Biosynthesis Proposal of Myxobacterial Corramycin**

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 61, Issue 51, December 19, 2022., 2022
Corramycin is a novel natural product produced by the myxobacterium Corallococcus coralloides. The structure, extraordinary total synthesis and biosynthesis of the antibiotic is described for the first time. Its promise as an in vivo septicemia model, the absence of cross‐resistance with commonly used antibiotic classes, and the lack of cytotoxicity ...

Les lipases sont des hydrolases atypiques : principales caractéristiques et applications [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologie, Agronomie, Société et Environnement, 2008
ipases are atypical hydrolases: principal characteristics and applications. Due to their kinetic and substrate specificities, triacylglycerol acyl-hydrolases or lipases are atypical enzymes.

Enzymatic Degradation of Zearalenone in the Gastrointestinal Tract of Pigs, Chickens, and Rainbow Trout

open access: yesToxins, 2023
The estrogenic mycotoxin zearalenone (ZEN) is a common contaminant of animal feed. Effective strategies for the inactivation of ZEN in feed are required.
