The effects of CYP450 inhibition on cerebrovascular control during rest and mild hypovolemia: An exploratory study in young, healthy adults

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
Cerebrovascular CYP450 is underexplored in humans. Twenty‐three participants (12 females) completed familiarization and two experimental visits utilizing double‐blind, randomized, crossover design.

N–3 fatty acid deficiency in the rat pineal gland: effects on phospholipid molecular species composition and endogenous levels of melatonin and lipoxygenase products

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1998
N–3 essential fatty acid deficiency affects a number of biological and physiological processes. In this study, we investigated the effect of n–3 essential fatty acid status on two key pineal biochemical functions, melatonin production and lipoxygenation,

Differential gene expression mediated by 15-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid in LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells

open access: yesMalaria Journal, 2009
Background Given the immuno-modulatory activity of native haemozoin (Hz), the effects of constitutive Hz components on immune response are of interest. Recently, gene expression changes mediated by HNE and the synthetic analogue of Hz, beta-haematin (BH),

A novel role for activating transcription factor-2 in 15(S)-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid-induced angiogenesis*

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2009
To investigate the mechanisms underlying 15(S)-HETE-induced angiogenesis, we have studied the role of the small GTPase, Rac1. We find that 15(S)-HETE activated Rac1 in human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (HRMVEC) in a time-dependent manner ...

The simultaneous quantification of cytochrome P450 dependent linoleate and arachidonate metabolites in urine by HPLC-MS/MS

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2002
A method for the simultaneous quantification of urinary linoleic and arachidonic acid derived epoxides and diols, as well as the arachidonate omega hydroxylated product has been developed. The method employs negative mode electrospray ionization and HPLC

Mast Cells and Arachidonic Acid Cascade in Inflammation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inflammation, 2009
Prostaglandin D2 PGD2 is a major cyclooxygenase metabolite of arachidonic acid produced by mast cells and it is released following allergen challenge in diseases, such as allergic diseases.

Impact of bacteroides uniformis on fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome in dawu golden phoenix laying hens: modulation of gut microbiota and arachidonic acid metabolism

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
This study explored the impact of Bacteroides uniformis (B. uniformis) on fatty liver hemorrhagic syndrome (FLHS) induced by a high-energy and low-protein (HELP) diet in laying hens, mainly focusing on hepatic lipid metabolism, gut microbiota, and ...

Mitochondrial metabolism of 12- and 15-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acids.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1994
We have previously demonstrated that peroxisomal-deficient human skin fibroblasts and mutant Chinese hamster ovary cells do not convert 12- and 15-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acids (HETEs) to chain-shortened, polar metabolites, suggesting that peroxisomes are the intracellular location for beta-oxidation of these compounds.
