Cortical Excitability Before and After Long‐Term Perampanel Treatment for Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Antiseizure medications (ASMs), which may influence cortical excitability, are the mainstay of epilepsy treatment. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) helps evaluate cortical excitability. We assessed changes in TMS responses using serial TMS measurements in people treated with an adjunctive noncompetitive AMPA‐receptor ...

Representing Organic Compound Oxidation in Chemical Mechanisms for Policy-Relevant Air Quality Models under Background Troposphere Conditions

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
This intercomparison has taken thirteen chemical mechanisms and compared how they treat VOC oxidation and degradation and its relationship to the photochemical formation of ozone and hydroxyl radicals.

Quantum chemical modeling of antioxidant activity of glutathione interacting with hydroxyl- and superoxide anion radicals [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ukrainian Biochemical Journal, 2015
Following the analysis of the results of quantum chemical simulation of interaction between a GSH molecule and oxygen radicals •ОН and •ООˉ, it was found that it takes place through the acid-base mechanism, where GSH acts as a base towards •ОН, and as an

Antioxidant Components and Antioxidant Activity of Tibetan Propolis and Its Simulated Digestive Juices

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2023
To evaluate the antioxidant activity and potential of propolis, Tibetan propolis and its simulated digestive juice were analyzed for its chemical composition (contents of total phenolics (TPC) and total flavonoids (TFC)), reducing power and antioxidant ...

Production of cold formaldehyde molecules for study and control of chemical reaction dynamics with hydroxyl radicals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We propose a method for controlling a class of low temperature chemical reactions. Specifically, we show the hydrogen abstraction channel in the reaction of formaldehyde (H$_{2}$CO) and the hydroxyl radical (OH) can be controlled through either the molecular state or an external electric field.

The Regulation of Trace Metal Elements in Cancer Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The induction of ferroptosis inhibits tumor growth, enhances anticancer efficacy, and overcomes drug resistance. Recent evidence shows nonferrous metal elements play a role in ferroptosis. This review focuses on how trace metals regulate ferroptosis processes like iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense.

Hydroxyl radical generation from environmentally persistent free radicals (EPFRs) in PM2.5.

open access: yesEnvironmental Science and Technology, 2014
Hydroxyl radicals were generated from an aqueous suspension of ambient PM2.5 and detected utilizing 5,5-dimethyl-1-pyrroline-N-oxide (DMPO) as a spin trap coupled with electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy.

Photoinduced degradation of three azole compounds from 3rd EU watchlist monitored by high-resolution higher-order mass spectrometry – Part I: A mechanistic study

open access: yesEnvironmental Advances, 2022
Pesticides are found in water bodies worldwide. Among them, there are azoles which are used as fungizides. Hence, tebuconazole, imazalil and penconazole have been included into the 3rd EU watchlist to survey their presence in water bodies.

Hyperfine structure of the hydroxyl free radical (OH) in electric and magnetic fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate single-particle energy spectra of the hydroxyl free radical (OH) in the lowest electronic and rovibrational level under combined static electric and magnetic fields, as an example of heteronuclear polar diatomic molecules. In addition to the fine-structure interactions, the hyperfine interactions and centrifugal distortion effects are ...
