Indigenous way of hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Peritoneum (and other serosal surfaces), 2020
Introduction: Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a form of highly concentrated, heated chemotherapy that is delivered directly to the abdomen intra-operatively. Currently for peritoneal surface malignancy (PSM), either primary or secondary from gastrointestinal (GI) or gynecologic cancers, cytoreductive surgery (CRS) combined with ...

Advances in the Treatment of Colorectal Cancer with Peritoneal Metastases: A Focus on Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy

open access: yesThe Ewha Medical Journal, 2023
In stage IV colorectal cancer (CRC), peritoneal metastasis is associated with a poor prognosis. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) after cytoreductive surgery (CRS) is an effective treatment option ...

Worldwide barriers of optimal surgical care provision in advanced ovarian cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Ovarian cancer (OC) remains one of the most challenging gynecological malignancies to cure, despite recent advances in treatment. Disparities in the diagnosis, management, and survival of OC exist worldwide and addressing them remains an ongoing challenge.

Evaluating Respiratory Complications Following Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy With Subphrenic Peritonectomy Versus Full Thickness Diaphragm Resection

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Patients with diaphragm tumor deposits undergoing cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) require subphrenic peritonectomy (SPP) or full‐thickness diaphragm resection (FTR) to achieve complete cytoreduction.

The Role of Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy in Gastric Cancer [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Surgical Oncology, 2016
Peritoneal metastasis, either synchronous or metachronous, is commonly seen in gastric cancer. It is associated with a poor prognosis, with a median survival of less than one year. The outcomes are not significantly improved by the use of systemic chemotherapy. We review the relevant literature on the role of HIPEC in gastric cancer.

Whole Abdominal Radiotherapy Is Tolerable and Effective in Children and Young Adults With Intra‐Abdominal Sarcoma: A Canadian Sarcoma Research and Clinical Collaboration (CanSaRCC) Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Whole abdominal radiotherapy (WART) is utilized in children, adolescents, and young adults with intra‐abdominal sarcoma, but efficacy and toxicity are uncertain. Methods Sarcoma patients diagnosed at ≤39 years of age between 1998 and 2023 who received WART were identified from a national registry.

Colorectal Carcinoma in Childhood and Adolescence: Microsatellite Instability Correlates With a Favorable Prognosis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) accounts for 10% of cancer cases worldwide; however, pediatric CRC is extremely rare, with an annual incidence of one to two cases per million. Microsatellite instability (MSI) has been shown to play a relevant prognostic role in adult CRC. Corresponding data for pediatric CRC are lacking. This study examines
