Teratogenicity of thiabendazole in ICR mice

Thiabendazole (TBZ) was tested for teratogenicity using Jcl:ICR mice. TBZ suspended in olive oil was given orally to pregnant mice at different stages of organogenesis. All foetuses were removed from the uterus on day 18 of gestation, and were examined for external and skeletal anomalies.

A simplified in-vivo bioassay system was used to test the carcinogenic potential of halothane in Swiss/ICR mice. Halothane was tested only at its maximum tolerated dose, and histologic examination was performed only on tumor masses and other grossly abnormal tissues found at necropsy.

Effects of thiabendazole on the kidneys of ICR mice

The effects of thiabendazole (TBZ) on the kidneys of male and female Crj:CD-1 (ICR) mice were investigated. The mice were given 0, 250 or 500 mg TBZ/kg body weight/day by gavage (using olive oil as a vehicle) for 1, 3, 5 or 7 days. The 24-hr urine volumes of treated mice were increased, significantly so in male mice given the high dose of TBZ.

Patulin mycotoxicosis in Swiss ICR mice

Abstract Patulin is a toxic metabolite of several species of the genera Aspergillus and Penicillium. When administered to 10–15-g Swiss ICR mice by the oral, sc and ip routes, the 72-hr LD50 values were: oral 48·0, sc 10·0 and ip 7·5 mg/kg body weight.

A teratogenicity study of Phloxine B in ICR mice

Pregnant Jcl:ICR mice were given Phloxine B in the diet at concentrations of 0, 1, 3 and 5% from the morning of day 6 through day 16 of gestation. The mice were killed on day 18 and foetuses were examined for external, visceral and skeletal anomalies. A significant decrease in body-weight gain was observed in all of the treated groups.

Studies of the teratogenicity of xanthomegnin and viridicatumtoxin in ICR mice

The myotoxins xanthomegnin and viridicatumtoxin were not teratogenic when administered orally to pregnant ICR mice during the 8-12th and 8-13th days of gestation, respectively. Viridicatumtoxin produced high mortality in mice given 200, 250 or 350 mg/kg of body weight.
