Treatment of Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy
New England Journal of Medicine, 1976In a retrospective study of the effect of treatment in biopsy-proved idiopathic membranous nephropathy, 91 adults and 12 children were followed for periods up to 29 years after clinical onset (mean, 6.5 years). Forty-four were treated with corticosteroids, 15 with corticosteroids and immunosuppressants; 44 had no treatment and served as a control group.

Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy
Drugs, 2009Treatment of idiopathic membranous nephropathy is based on a 'symptomatic' therapy that includes ACE inhibitors or angiotensin II receptor antagonists, and on an 'aetiological' therapy aimed at modulating underlying immunological mechanisms. The role of the latter is still debated given the usually indolent course of disease; furthermore, traditional ...

Management of idiopathic membranous nephropathy
Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, 2010Idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) can have a variable natural course. Treatments able to induce remission can improve the long-term prognosis. However, the optimal therapy for IMN remains controversial. We reviewed the historical and current literature from 1979 to 2010 regarding the natural course of IMN and the possible treatments giving special

Idiopathic membranous nephropathy in children
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1982To determine the prognosis in children with membranous nephropathy, we reviewed the clinicopathologic features and outcome of 22 patients, 11 male and 11 female, age 11 months to 19.9 years (mean 12.0 years). Patients had biopsies within six months of onset of symptoms and were divided into two groups according to the biopsy findings: group 1 (Stages I

Identical twins with idiopathic membranous nephropathy
Journal of Nephrology, 2020The pathogenesis of idiopathic membranous nephropathy is associated with autoantibodies, most often against the phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) and with genetic factors, especially those involving human leukocyte antigen (HLA) genes. Idiopathic membranous nephropathy is not a typical inherited Mendelian disorder.

Prognostic factors in idiopathic membranous nephropathy
American Journal of Kidney Diseases, 1998Membranous nephropathy is the most frequent cause of glomerulonephritis in adults with nephrotic syndrome. Approximately one quarter of the patients develop end-stage renal disease. Another quarter enters complete remission during follow-up. Treating all patients with membranous nephropathy with immunosuppressive drugs would unnecessarily expose at ...

Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy in Children in China
Fetal and Pediatric Pathology, 2015Idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN), which was the result from non-SLE, non-hepatitis B or C virus infection, is relatively rare in children. We collected 584 pediatric cases of renal biopsy specimens in children hospitalized in Xijing Hospital from Jan 2008 to Dec 2013. We found that IgA nephropathy (27.9%) and Henoch-Schönlein purpura (26.4%) are
