Treatment of Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy
Nature Reviews Nephrology, 2013Immunosuppressive treatment of patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy (iMN) is heavily debated. The controversy is mainly related to the toxicity of the therapy and the variable natural course of the disease-spontaneous remission occurs in 40-50% of patients.

Membranous nephropathy (MN) patients are diagnosed by the presence of phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R) before they progress to renal failure. However, the subepithelium-like immunocomplex deposit-mediated downstream molecular pathways are poorly ...

Altered Intestinal Microbial Flora and Metabolism in Patients with Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy
American Journal of Nephrology, 2023Introduction: Dysbiosis of the intestinal microbiome and related metabolites have been observed in chronic kidney disease, yet their roles in idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) are poorly understood. Methods: In this study, we describe the variation

BACKGROUND Idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) is a type of nephrotic syndrome and the leading cause of chronic kidney disease. As far as we know, no predictive model for assessing the prognosis of IMN is currently available.

Treatment of Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy
New England Journal of Medicine, 1976In a retrospective study of the effect of treatment in biopsy-proved idiopathic membranous nephropathy, 91 adults and 12 children were followed for periods up to 29 years after clinical onset (mean, 6.5 years). Forty-four were treated with corticosteroids, 15 with corticosteroids and immunosuppressants; 44 had no treatment and served as a control group.

Prediction in Idiopathic Membranous Nephropathy [PDF]
Results of the prognosis of idiopathic membranous nephropathy are conflictive and prevent an effective risk stratification. These conflicts are explained in part by insufficient consideration of methodological principles for prognostic research.

Management of idiopathic membranous nephropathy
Expert Opinion on Pharmacotherapy, 2010Idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) can have a variable natural course. Treatments able to induce remission can improve the long-term prognosis. However, the optimal therapy for IMN remains controversial. We reviewed the historical and current literature from 1979 to 2010 regarding the natural course of IMN and the possible treatments giving special

Idiopathic membranous nephropathy in the elderly
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation, 1993Abstract In this retrospective non-randomized study we reviewed the outcome for 41 patients with membranous nephropathy older than 65 years at onset and followed for at least 1 year. Twelve of the patients never received any specific treatment (group A), 15 were treated with a 6-month course of methylpredniso-lone alternated to ...
