Characterization of IGCT under zero-current-transition condition

No.01CH37248), 2002This paper characterizes the integrated gate commutated thyristor (IGCT) device under the zero-current-transition (ZCT) soft switching condition for the first time. The test results show that ZCT soft switching can dramatically reduce the turn-off loss, turn-on loss of the IGCT switch and also alleviate the reverse recovery stress of the diode. The ZCT

Turn-off failure mechanism in large area IGCTs
CAS 2011 Proceedings (2011 International Semiconductor Conference), 2011The destruction mechanism in large area IGCTs (Integrated Gate Commutated Thyristors) under inductive switching conditions is analyzed in detail. The three-dimensional nature of the turn-off process in a 91mm diameter wafer is simulated with a two-dimensional representation.

Current source semiconductor opening switch with parallel IGCTs
Pulsed Power Seminar, 2003A novel high power opening switch module has been developed. This module, which has a switch capability of at least 10 kA, consists of 4 parallel integrated gate commutated thyristors, so-called IGCTs. A further increase of the current capability, up to 40 kA, was reached by parallel connection of 4 modules.

A Modular Medium Voltage IGCT Gate Driver Supply
2018 IEEE 27th International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE), 2018This paper introduces a novel concept for use as a medium voltage IGCT gate driver supply. The concept makes use of an integrated magnetic structure to transmit orthogonal signals for power and control, and a multiple output LCC converter built around it. The concept is modular and fault tolerant.
