Identification of IgE as the Allergy-Associated Ig Isotype [PDF]
The important role of IgE in the pathogenesis of most allergic disorders makes it appropriate to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its discovery and identification as the allergy-associated Ig isotype and to recall the role of two papers published in The Journal of Immunology on this milestone.

Sensitivity of grounding line dynamics to the choice of the friction law
Basal slip accounts for a large part of the flow of ice streams draining ice from Antarctica and Greenland into the ocean. Therefore, an appropriate representation of basal slip in ice flow models is a prerequisite for accurate sea level rise projections.

Invariable generation and the Houghton groups [PDF]
The Houghton groups $H_1, H_2, \ldots$ are a family of infinite groups. In 1975 Wiegold showed that $H_3$ was invariably generated (IG) but $H_1\le H_3$ was not. A natural question is then whether the groups $H_2, H_3, \ldots$ are all IG. Wiegold also ends by saying that, in the examples he had found of an IG group with a subgroup that is not IG, the ...

Production of clean rare isotope beams at TRIUMF Ion guide laser ion source [PDF]
Hot cavity resonant ionization laser ion sources (RILIS) provide a multitude of radioactive ion beams with high ionization efficiency and element selective ionization. However, in hot cavity RILIS there still remains isobaric contaminations in the extracted beam from surface ionized species.

Anti-IgE therapeutics interfere with the ability of IgE to bind to its receptors on effector cells. Here we report the crystal structure of an anti-IgE single-domain antibody in complex with an IgE Fc fragment, revealing how the antibody inhibits ...

Determination of IgE Complexes and of Total IgE by Latex Immunoassay [PDF]
A sensitive immunoassay based on latex particle agglutination for the measurement of circulating IgE-containing complexes is described. In this method, the anti-IgE-coated particles are incubated with diluted serum and the resulting agglutination is quantified by turbidimetry or particle counting.
