IGF-1 mediated Neurogenesis Involves a Novel RIT1/Akt/Sox2 Cascade
Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) is known to have diverse effects on brain structure and function, including the promotion of stem cell proliferation and neurogenesis in the adult dentate gyrus.

How IGF-1 activates its receptor [PDF]
This study presents a new model for IGF-I receptor activation in which the transmembrane domains are held apart until ligand binding brings them together in an activated state.

Decoding Human Placental Cellular and Molecular Responses to Obesity and Fetal Growth
Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.

RUNX2 Activation in Fibro/Adipogenic Progenitors Promotes Muscle Fibrosis in Muscular Dystrophy
This study revealed a novel role of the chemokine‐TGF‐β1‐RUNX2 axis in determining the fate of FAP differentiation and modulating muscle fibrosis in patients and mice with muscular dystrophies. ABSTRACT Clinical evidence indicates concurrent muscle inflammation and fibrosis in muscular dystrophies (MDs); however, the molecular mechanisms underlying ...

Insulin-like growth factor family and prostate cancer: new insights and emerging opportunities
Prostate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in men. The mammalian insulin-like growth factor (IGF) family is made up of three ligands (IGF-I, IGF-II, and insulin), three receptors (IGF-I receptor (IGF-1R), insulin receptor (IR), and IGF ...

IGF-binding protein 2 (IGFBP2) – oncogene or tumour suppressor?
The role of Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 2 (IGFBP2) in cancer is unclear. In general IGFBP2 is considered to be oncogenic and its expression is often observed to be elevated in cancer.

Development of more complex in vitro models necessitates the development of improved monitoring approaches. This work demonstrates a novel conformable device capable of measuring the resistance of two cell barriers within a single model independently, a significant advantage over conventional trans‐epithelial/endothelial electrical resistance (TEER ...

IGF-1 impacts neocortical interneuron connectivity in epileptic spasm generation and resolution
Little is known about the mechanisms that generate epileptic spasms following perinatal brain injury. Recent studies have implicated reduced levels of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) in these patients’ brains.
