Exploring developmental changes in femoral midneck cross‐sectional properties
The properties of femoral midneck cross‐sections exhibit a unique growth pattern that is characterized by shape changes during adolescence. Abstract This research delves deeper into previous works on femoral cross‐sectional properties during ontogeny by focusing for the first time on the human femoral midneck. The ontogenetic pattern of cross‐sectional

Activity-dependent regulation of T-type calcium channels by submembrane calcium ions
Voltage-gated Ca2+ channels are involved in numerous physiological functions and various mechanisms finely tune their activity, including the Ca2+ ion itself.

AIMTOR, a BRET biosensor for live imaging, reveals subcellular mTOR signaling and dysfunctions
Background mTOR signaling is an essential nutrient and energetic sensing pathway. Here we describe AIMTOR, a sensitive genetically encoded BRET (Bioluminescent Resonance Energy Transfer) biosensor to study mTOR activity in living cells.

The insulin superfamily of growth-promoting proteins [PDF]
Recently, structural analysis of the human transferrin and growth hormone (GH) amino acid sequences has unravelled that they harbor a motif identical to a pattern found in viral oncoproteins known to bind the primarily nuclear tumor suppressor retinoblastoma protein (RB).

Abstract Aims Paltusotine is a novel, nonpeptide, selective somatostatin receptor 2 agonist in development for the treatment of acromegaly and carcinoid syndrome. This study investigated the mass balance, routes of excretion, absolute bioavailability and metabolite profile of orally administered paltusotine.

Dynamic responsiveness of self‐assembling peptide‐based nano‐drug systems
This review discusses dynamically responsive self‐assembling peptide‐based nano‐drug systems, including the stimulation response, strategy of biomimicry, subcellular internalization, and the applications of peptide nano‐drug materials, and concludes with a brief outlook of their challenges and opportunities in clinical translation.

Plateau border bulimia transition: discontinuities expected in three simple experiments on 2D liquid foams [PDF]
We describe the geometry of foams squeezed between two solid plates (2D GG foams) in two main asymptotic regimes: fully dry floor tiles and dry pancakes. We predict an abrupt transition between both regimes, with a substantial change in the Plateau border radius. This should be observable in different types of experiments on such 2D GG foams: when foam

Sexing Bones: Improving Transparency of Sex Reporting to Address Bias Within Preclinical Studies
ABSTRACT Despite knowledge that sexually dimorphic mechanisms regulate bone homeostasis, sex often remains unreported and unconsidered in preclinical experimental design. Failure to report sex could lead to inappropriate generalizations of research findings and less effective translation into clinical practice.

Note and calculations concerning elastic dilatancy in 2D glass-glass liquid foams [PDF]
When deformed, liquid foams tend to raise their liquid contents like immersed granular materials, a phenomenon called dilatancy. We have aready described a geometrical interpretation of elastic dilatancy in 3D foams and in very dry foams squeezed between two solid plates (2D GG foams). Here, we complement this work in the regime of less dry 2D GG foams.

This study expanded our understanding of the size effect of biological hydroxyapatite (BHA) granules from a biological perspective rather than physical defect accommodation. Besides, we proposed the multi‐level structure of commercially available BHA granules based on their microstructure and provided a biological mechanism for the classification of ...
