Subsurface geology of the Torino metropolitan area (Westernmost Po Plain, NW Italy)

open access: yesJournal of Maps
The 1:100,000 subsurface geological map of the Torino metropolitan area covers ∼900 km2 in the westernmost Po Plain, an area of great relevance being crossed by the late Neogene to Quaternary ‘Torino Hill Front’ (THF), a tens of kilometers long, NW ...

Toxoplasma gondii infections in pigs from south Benin and assessment of breeders’ knowledge about toxoplasmosis [PDF]

open access: yesBulgarian Journal of Veterinary Medicine, 2020
Toxoplasma gondii is a ubiquitous apicomplexan parasite that causes toxoplasmosis, a cosmopolitan zoonosis responsible for abortion and congenital malformation in animals and humans. Pigs can be a reservoir for T. gondii and act as one of the sources for

Carbon dioxide fluxes in Alpine grasslands at the Nivolet Plain, Gran Paradiso National Park, Italy 2017–2023

open access: yesScientific Data
We introduce a georeferenced dataset of Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE), Ecosystem Respiration (ER) and meteo-climatic variables (air and soil temperature, air relative humidity, soil volumetric water content, pressure, and solar irradiance) collected at ...

Investigation of Toxoplasma gondii Seropositivity in Pregnant Women in Kastamonu Province, Turkey

open access: yesTürkiye Parazitoloji Dergisi, 2022
Objective:Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) is a protozoan parasite that infects most warm-blooded animal species and causes toxoplasmosis. Especially infections that occur during pregnancy can lead to serious clinical symptoms.

Ultrasensitive refractive index sensor with rotatory biased weak measurement [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
A modified weak measurement scheme, rotatory biased weak measurement, is proposed to significantly improve the sensitivity and resolution of the refractive index sensor on a total reflection structure. This method introduces an additional phase in the post-selected procedure and generates an extinction point in the spectrum distribution.

Serum Levels of the Immunoglobulins IgG and IgG(T) in Horses

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 1974
Levels of the immunoglobulins IgG and IgG(T) in serum in Norwegian horses of the breeds “Dole” and “Fjord” were determined by the quantitative radial immunodiffusion test. No significant differences were apparent between the 2 Norwegian breeds. The immunoglobulin levels were approximately in the same range as previously reported for Shetland ponies ...

The cytoskeletal control of B cell receptor and integrin signaling in normal B cells and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In lymphoid organs, antigen recognition and B cell receptor signaling rely on integrins and the cytoskeleton. Integrins act as mechanoreceptors, couple B cell receptor activation to cytoskeletal remodeling, and support immune synapse formation as well as antigen extraction.

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Unsupervised Classification for Polarimetric SAR Data Using Variational Bayesian Wishart Mixture Model with Inverse Gamma-Gamma Prior [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Although various clustering methods have been successfully applied to polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) image clustering tasks, most of the available approaches fail to realize automatic determination of cluster number, nor have they derived an exact distribution for the number of looks.

Protein induced morphological transitions in KCl crystal growth [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. E 67, 011908 (2003), 2002
We investigated the formation of KCl crystals on glass surface by phase contrast, fluorescent, and atomic force microscopy on the micrometer scale, and observed interesting morphological transitions as a function of the experimental conditions. The presence of proteins in the solution from which the salt crystals grow during the drying up leads to ...
