IgM, Not 7S-IgM, as Cause of Increased Serum IgM Concentrations in Goiter Patients
Circulating concentrations of immunoglobulin-M (IgM) are increased in about half of patients with endemic or sporadic nontoxic goiter (1). In the single radial immunodiffusion technique used to test those serums (2), the diameter of the precipitin ring developed against the anti-IgM serum in the agar is proportional to the logarithm of the amount of ...

Emerging drugs targeting cellular redox homeostasis to eliminate acute myeloid leukemia stem cells
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a very heterogeneous group of disorders with large differences in the percentage of immature blasts that presently are classified according to the specific mutations that trigger malignant proliferation among thousands of ...

The intergalactic medium thermal history at redshift z=1.7--3.2 from the Lyman alpha forest: a comparison of measurements using wavelets and the flux distribution [PDF]
We investigate the thermal history of the intergalactic medium (IGM) in the redshift interval z=1.7--3.2 by studying the small-scale fluctuations in the Lyman alpha forest transmitted flux.

Structure, Function, and Therapeutic Use of IgM Antibodies
Natural immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies are pentameric or hexameric macro-immunoglobulins and have been highly conserved during evolution. IgMs are initially expressed during B cell ontogeny and are the first antibodies secreted following exposure to ...

The contribution of the IGM and minihalos to the 21 cm signal of reionization [PDF]
We study the statistical properties of the cosmological 21 cm signal from both the intergalactic medium (IGM) and minihalos, using a reionization simulation that includes a self--consistent treatment of minihalo photoevaporation.

IgM-Associated Cryoglobulinaemia
Cryoglobulinaemia is characterised by serum immunoglobulins that precipitate at temperatures below 37 °C and redissolve on warming. Monoclonal IgM immunoglobulin can be associated with type I and II cryoglobulinaemia with underlying Waldenström macroglobulinemia, monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance, or another non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Mechanism of IgM Polymerization [PDF]
The stoichiometry of J chain in pentamer IgM has been determined by measuring the radiolabeled thiols in the constituent chains after complete reduction and alkylation of the polymer. One mole of J was found to be disulfide bonded to 1 mol of pentamer.

In this issue of JEM, Thierry et al. (https://doi.org/10.1084/jem.20180344) demonstrate that, once secreted by freshly activated plasmablasts, IgM leaves the lymph node via the microarchitecture of the fibroblastic reticular cell conduit. This work demonstrates how the very peculiar stromal compartment of lymphatic organs optimizes the systemic ...

Detection of IgG and IgM Levels in Patients with COVID-19 in Mosul Province, Iraq
The pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) has become the most dangerous viral infection worldwide. Since its identification in late 2019, the number of medical trials to combat the infection has sharply increased.
