EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

IL-1β induced NGAL mRNA expression and protein secretion in MDCK cells.

open access: yes, 2016
(A) IL-1β induced NGAL mRNA expression in a time-dependent manner. The cells were treated with 10% FBS (open circles) and 2% FBS in the presence (closed circles) or absence (closed squares) of IL-1β (50 pM) for the indicated time periods.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Effects of dialyzer membrane on interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and IL-1β—converting enzyme in mononuclear cells

open access: yes, 2001
Effects of dialyzer membrane on interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and IL-1β—converting enzyme in mononuclear cells.BackgroundIn vitro stimulation of mononuclear cells (peripheral blood mononuclear cells; PBMCs) with an endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide; LPS) revealed ...

Interleukin-1β promotes human metapneumovirus replication via activating the cGAS-STING pathway

open access: yesVirus Research
Background: Human metapneumovirus(hMPV) is one of the most common viruses that cause acute lower respiratory tract infections. Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) has been reported to play an important role in multiple virus replication.

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Rapid cleavage of IL-1β in DRG neurons produces tissue injury-induced pain hypersensitivity

open access: yesMolecular Pain
Background: IL-1β plays a critical role in the pathophysiology of neuroinflammation. The presence of cleaved IL-1β (cIL-1β) in the neurons of the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) implicates its function in biological signaling arising from the sensory neuron ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
